    A design of video examination adopted in nurse examination

    This article introduced a new type of video examination adopted in nurse level evaluation examination,including the characteristics,advantages,key points designed,and application. We suggested that such a type of examination should be used in order to meet the equality requirements of nurses. Besides,the video examination has the advantage on measuring the logistic thinking ability of nurses and assessing the abilities of common skills,clinical practice,and communication.

    Objective To explore the effects of blended teaching based on Community of Inquiry(CoI)applied in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing. Methods From February to June 2019,two classes of nursing students of grade 2016 were randomly divided into the control group(n=124)and experimental group(n=126).The routine teaching method was applied in the control group,while the blended teaching based on CoI was applied in the experimental group. The blended teaching included creating the teaching presence,playing the intermediary role of social presence to realize cognitive presence.The theoretical examination,Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV) and CoI-Chinese Version were used to evaluate the effects. Results After the course,the examination scores in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(P < 0.05).The scores of truth-seeking of CTDI-CV in the experimental group was better than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The levels of the three presences of CoI in the experimental group were high approaching 4 points. Conclusion The blended teaching based on CoI can improve the teaching effects and make students get a good learning experience.The impact on critical thinking needs to be observed for a longer time.

    Objective To explore the effects of “wisdom classroom” applied in the Fundamentals of Nursing in a vocational school.Methods Nursing students of Chengdu health school were selected. Students of two classes were included in the experimental group and taught by the “wisdom classroom”. The teaching was conducted through interactive teaching system,E-book package learning system,smart teaching assistant,cloud-based learning platform and other information means by combining with the flipped classroom teaching mode. Students of the other two classes were included in the control group,and the traditional teaching method was used involving theory teaching and demonstration.Results The performance of students in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group for two semesters,except for the midterm performance of the first semester.Conclusion “Wisdom classroom” can improve students’ learning experience and improve their performance. It is suggested that in the middle and later stages of “wisdom classroom”,special attention should be paid to the continuous consolidation of teaching effects and the cultivation of students’ comprehensive ability;in the process of implementation. Besides,we should pay attention to the integration of other teaching methods to maximize the strengths of the teaching.

    The construction of Fundamentals of Nursing as the first-level undergraduate course

    Objective To explore the construction methods of Fundamentals of Nursing as the first-level undergraduate course.Methods The nursing undergraduates took part in the new teaching model. Various teaching methods included online and offline combination and in and outside school combination. The course objectives,course resources,course contents,teaching methods,and evaluation methods were all constructed.Results In recent five years, 16 students have won 9 National Awards for nursing skill competitions and 354 research papers have been completed. Students have provided 182 nursing services for 5 communities and collected 2,249 copies of residents' health record. The students have written 482 reports. The average scores of students ranged from 71~76. More than 90% of the students gave a high evaluation on this course. They agreed that the course was helpful to the theory learning and skill training. The course can broaden their vision on nursing and improve the communication ability.Conclusion After continuous construction, the course of Fundamentals of Nursing has achieved good teaching results. Students accept it greatly, but it still needs to be continuously improved.

    Objective To evaluate the effects of an ability-oriented teaching reform on nursing student's communication abilities in Health Assessment. Methods The teaching reform was conducted in 129 undergraduate students of grade 2017. Contents of the teaching reform included grouping students based on their thinking characteristics,standardized patient teaching,and case study through ISBAR tool. The communication ability was measured using Professionalism Assessment Questionnaire(PAQ) and compared with that of students in grade 2016.Results The score of PAQ in the experimental group(4.80±0.28) was significantly higher than that in the control group(4.37±0.49,t=9.121,P<0.001). Conclusion Teaching reform of health assessment based on ability has a positive influence on building nursing students' nurse-patient and interprofessional communication abilities.

    Objective To explore the application methods and effects of standardized patient(SP) in Medical Nursing in a higher vocational college. Methods Year two students of 2 classes were recruited. One class was assigned to the experimental group and SP was used for training of health education ability in Medical Nursing. The other class was in the control group and students themselves acted as the patients. When the course was completed,students' evaluation towards the SP teaching was surveyed with a self-developed questionnaire. In addition,15 students from each group were interviewed to know their experience and feedback on SP teaching.Results The questionnaire survey showed that the teaching evaluation in the experimental group was better than that in the control group(P <0.05). Students in the experimental group believed that the feedback from SP was natural,true and targeted which helped them learn related knowledge according to the specific conditions of different patients. Conclusion SP can improve the health education ability for students in the high vocational college.

    Objective To explore the effects of “shadow” experience activity in Surgical Nursing. Methods A total of 82 year three students from two classes of grade 2017 were recruited by convenience sampling and they were divided into the experimental group(41) and the control group(41). The “shadow” experiential teaching method was used in the experimental group while the traditional teaching method was used in the control group. Results After the intervention,the results of final examination in the experimental group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05). The total score of the critical thinking ability in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Students in the experimental group had a high evaluation on “shadow” experiential teaching. Conclusion The “shadow” experience activity is helpful to consolidate students' theoretical knowledge and improve their critical thinking ability.

    Objective To explore the effects of the flipped classroom in death ethics teaching for nursing undergraduates. Methods The nursing undergraduates in class 1 were treated as the experimental group(43 students)and the flipped classroom teaching was used in this group. Students in class 2 were assigned as the control group(43 students) and the traditional teaching method was used in this group. The outcomes included the score of theoretical examination,students' satisfaction with the teaching,theoretical assessment,satisfaction evaluation and students' performance during the teaching. Results The scores of theoretical examination and satisfaction level of the students in the experimental group were better than those of the students in the control group(P<0.05). The performance of the students in the experimental group was significantly improved(P<0.05). Conclusion Death ethics teaching based on the flipped classroom can promote students' self and deep learning,and effectively improve students' moral quality of death ethics.

    The relationship among nursing graduates' divergent-thinking attitudes,stress and innovative behaviours:the mediating role of creative self-efficacy

    Objective To explore the prevalence of innovative behaviours and whether creative self-efficacy played a mediating role among divergent-thinking,stress and innovative behaviours in nursing graduates.Methods We conveniently recruited 202 nursing graduates from 5 universities in Shandong province and surveyed them by questionnaires.Results The mean scores of nursing graduates' innovative behaviours,divergent-thinking attitudes,stress and creative self-efficacy were 3.49±0.56,111.98±9.19,25.83±5.49,and 4.63±0.86,respectively. The findings showed that creative self-efficacy mediated divergent-thinking attitudes and innovative behaviors and its effect coefficient was 0.199(95%CI:0.084~0.318). Meanwhile,creative self-efficacy mediated stress and innovative behaviours and its effect coefficient was -0.252(95%CI:-0.338~-0.170).Conclusion The innovative behaviours of nursing graduates are at a medium level. Nursing educators should develop interventions focused on improving divergent-thinking attitudes,relieving stress,boosting creative self-efficacy,to promote nursing graduates' innovative behaviours.

    The effects of case-based reasoning on nurse patient relationship of nursing interns

    Objective To explore the effects of case-based reasoning on nurse patient relationship of nursing interns. Methods The students were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. Students in the experimental group received the case-based reasoning teaching. The instructors taught the students to use the case sources to solve the problems regarding the interpersonal relationship issues between the nursing students and patients during the clinical placement. Students in the control group could ask help from families,friends or others to solve the interpersonal relationship issues between patients and nursing students. The self-made scale of the Interpersonal Communication Abilities of Nursing Interns was used. Results After the intervention,students' dimensional scores of the Interpersonal Communication Abilities of Nursing Interns(except for affinity dimension)and total scores in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The case-based reasoning can help to improve the interpersonal communication abilities of nursing interns,which can be widely used in college nursing interpersonal communication and nursing etiquette courses,and pre-job training for nurses.

    Innovation of stroke care teaching in training of geriatric nurses

    According to the syllabus of geriatric nurse training developed by Beijing Nursing Association,the stroke care contents were added and refined and the teaching methods was innovated with the help of advantages of characteristic departments of teaching hospital. The contents included basic nursing,rehabilitation nursing,and psychological nursing.Case-based teaching was used to train 30 nurses in stroke care. After the training,the nurses were interviewed. These nurses agreed that contents especially the psychological nursing and methods of stroke care teaching were practical and novel. They thought that standardized psychological nursing process could be mastered and used in clinical practice after training. After the whole training,a questionnaire survey was conducted on the satisfaction of teaching facilities and conditions,teaching methods and teaching contents. The overall satisfaction rate was 98.7%.

    Application of a reflection sheet on cooperative ability improvement of endoscopic nurses

    Objective To explore the effects of a reflection sheet on cooperative ability improvement of endoscopic nurses. Methods We designed a reflection sheet including general information of the patient,brief medical history,preoperative discussion,preoperative preparation,cooperation problems during operation,reasons analysis and improvement measures,comments by senior nurses and head nurses,and reports and reflections of nurses. Eight nurses who had been working in the Endoscopy Center for less than 2 years were selected and they were asked to fill in the reflection sheet after the complicated operation especially those involving new materials and attachments. The head nurses summarized and analyzed the reflection sheet,and carried out the training and guidance for the nurses. This study used self-developed questionnaires investigating the nursing quality of endoscopic surgery and doctors' satisfaction with the nurses' cooperation before and after the intervention used. Results After the intervention,the nursing quality of endoscopic surgery was higher than that of before(t=6.808,P<0.001). Doctors' satisfaction with the cooperative nurses' professional skills was also higher than that before the intervention(t=7.539,P<0.001).Conclusion The application of a reflection sheet can improve the nursing quality of endoscopic surgery for digestive endoscopy nurses,and improve cooperation with doctors to complete endoscopic surgery,and increase doctors' satisfaction with nursing work.

    Experience of nurses' spiritual care:a meta-synthesis of qualitative studies

    Objective To systematically evaluate and integrate the qualitative research of nurses' spiritual care experience.Methods The following databases including PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,EBSCO,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP and Airiti Library were searched from inception to October 2019 to collect related qualitative studies. The JBI Critical Appraisal Tool for qualitative studies(2017 edition) was used to evaluate the quality of studies. Meta-synthesis was applied to integrate the results.Results Totally 12 studies containing 93 findings were included. Then 9 new categories were generated and finally 3 synthesized results were obtained. The cognition of spiritual care:the scope of spiritual care is extensive,and spiritual care is necessary;emotional experience of spiritual care:positive and negative psychological feelings coexist;practical experience in spiritual care:work environment factors may cause difficulties in spiritual care implementation,differences in nurses' own traits may affect spiritual care outcomes,establishing a good nurse-patient relationship is conducive to the implementation of clinical care,provide cultural and religious support appropriate to the patient's needs,and benefits of training related to spiritual care.Conclusion Nursing managers in China should actively understand the clinical nurses' perceptions and opinions on spiritual care,accelerate the development of clinical spiritual care interventions and practical programs,and promote the clinical practice of spiritual care work to better reflect the concept of human care,improve the quality of nursing,and promote the healthy development of our nursing career.
    The effects of structured health education in family members of patients with severe stroke

    Objective To explore the effects of structured health education for family members of patients with severe stroke. Methods From January to December 2018,family members of patients with severe cerebral apoplexy who met the inclusion criteria were selected from two neurological ICUs of a general hospital in Henan province. These family members were divided into the experimental group(41)and the control group(42). In the experi-mental group,structured health education was used by nurses;while in the control group,routine health education was carried out. The satisfaction,knowledge level and migration stress levels of the family members of the two groups were compared. Results Satisfaction,knowledge acquisition and migration stress levels of the family members in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of structured health education in family members of patients with severe stroke is effective and can significantly improve the knowledge level and care skills of family members.

    Objective To investigate the effects of a nutrition management system in extended care of patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD). Methods A total of 84 patients in the nephrology department of a tertiary hospital in Hunan province were selected. The patients in the first department of kidney were selected as the experimental group(42 cases) and patients in the second department of kidney were selected as the control group(42 cases) by lottery. Two cases were lost to follow-up in each group.The control group received routine health education while the experimental group received nutrition counseling and management. After 3 months' follow-up,the changes of Subjective Global Assessment(SGA),daily protein intake(DPI) and daily energy intake(DEI) and nutrition-related index in the two groups were compared. Results After intervention,the incidence of malnutrition in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The DPI of the experimental group was less than that of the control group,and the DEI was more than that of the control group(P<0.05). The serum albumin and pre-albumin levels of the experimental group were better than those of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The nutrition management system has a good effect in the extended care on patients with chronic kidney disease. It can provide reference for the integrated management of patients,scientific and accurate nutrition management,and improve the nutritional status of patients.
    A path analysis of impacts of psychological capital and social support on career status among nurses in the infection wards of tertiary hospitals

    Objective To explore the pathway of psychological capital and social support on career status among infection wards nurses and to provide strategies for stabilizing infection wards nurses. Methods A random cluster sampling method was used to investigate 316 nurses who came from 16 infectious disease departments in tertiary hospitals in Changsha. Questionnaires used in our study were general data questionnaire,Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PCQ),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),Career Status Evaluation Questionnaire(CSEQ). Results The overall score of CSEQ by the infection wards nurses was 78.11±13.63. Psychological Capital had a significant indirect effect on Career Status(β=0.602,P<0.001)。Social support not only directly affected career status(β=0.228,P=0.011),but also indirectly affects career status mediated by psychological capital. The mediating effect accounted for 63.1% of the total effects. Conclusion There was a large space for improving the career status of nurses in infectious diseases department. Administrators can promote the benign development of their career status by improving the level of psychological capital and social support.
