Objectives To explore the effects of the syllabus of general nursing knowledge among new nurses. Methods The syllabuses were made for five general nursing knowledge including intravenous access and maintenance,drug administration,pain management,skin management and diabetes patient’s management. A total of 128 new nurses in an affiliated hospital of a university medical school were recruited. These nurses learned these knowledge through online and offline method. New nurses’ knowledge,skills performance,and satisfaction were analyzed.Results All nurses completed the online session. The average scores of the written exam after online study for the above five knowledge were 54.5,59.7,55.6,59.9,and 66.7,respectively.The average score after classroom teaching were 68.4,84.0,77.7,82.7,and 94.7,respectively. All new nurses passed the skill tests and each of them choose at least one question pertinent to the topics for discussion. The course satisfaction were 91.5%,92.3%,93.4%,93.7%,and 94.1%. The overall rating for the practicability of the courses were 93.1%,93.5%,92.3%,93.5%,and 93.2%.Conclusion The syllabus of general nursing knowledge is useful to assist new nurses in online and offline learning and such a method is accepted by new nurses.
