    Live video teaching of Surgical Nursing under the outbreak of COVID-19

    Under the outbreak of COVID-19,all schools all over the country delayed the opening day. Instead,online teaching is conducted. In this study,we used a way of “live video teaching for all students,knowledge consolidation by separating the students into small classes,and competing to get through the knowledge barrier”. The specific application for online teaching was used. A total of 137 students in three classes were taught by live video for Surgical Nursing. The completion rate of the course was 100% and students’ satisfaction rate was 100%. The mean score of students examination performance was(93.12±3.67),and the students’ class attendance rate was 100%.The participation rate of in-class test was 96%,and the accuracy rate of in-class test was 95%. Live video teaching has good learning effects on students’ performance and students are satisfied with the online way.The online teaching has good value under the outbreak of COVID-19.

    The Nursing Department set up 12 specialist groups according to the level of nurses and objectives of training. During COVID-19 epidemic,some specific stations such as triage station,fever clinics,isolation wards and intensive care units were established. Psychological supports were provided for social groups,patients and medical staff. The assistance for other hospitals were simultaneously provided. According to the post setting and requirements during COVID-19 epidemic as well as the responsibility-ability matching principles,the Nursing Department reallocated 152 nurses without disturbing the normal hospital orders. No COVID-19 infection was observed in each unit. The satisfaction level of patients and supported nurses achieved 100%.

    Objective To explore the effects of risk matrix assessment in prevention and control of COVID-19 in interventional catheterization room. Methods Two rounds of expert consultations were conducted with 16 experts. Four primary indicators including infection sources,transmission routes,susceptible populations,and prevention and control capabilities were identified. Besides,14 secondary indicators were also determined. A two-dimensional risk matrix was established with the infection possibility as the vertical ordinate and outcome severity as the abscissa for all secondary indicators. Emergency prevention and control measures were developed for 5 high-risk and 3 medium-risk indicators. Results From 23 January to 26 February in 2020,107 interventional procedures were successfully completed in the interventional catheterization room. No patients and medical staffs caught the infection. Conclusion The risk matrix assessment can help identify the main potential risk factors. Targeted prevention and control measures can therefore be taken to prevent COVID-19 infection in the interventional catheter room.

    Objective To explore the emergency training strategies for nursing team in the designated hospital for the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods The hierarchical emergency training strategy was developed according to different plans for the nursing team. The strategies included online knowledge training and site skill training. The strategies were stratified,full-covered,and diversified. Results The emergency nurse team was three-level and a total of 1,396 nurses in the team completed the relevant training contents. All nurses passed the assessment. By February 18,2020,no nurses were infected with COVID-19. Conclusion Through the hierarchical emergency training program,the professional ability of prevention and disease control ability of nurses can be effectively improved. Their emergency ability and comprehensive ability of solving outbreak of epidemic can be improved. The quality and safety of clinical nursing can be guaranteed.

    Objective To explore the effects of a repeated test in the knowledge training of infection prevention and control for healthcare professionals in the fever clinic and isolation wards of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). Methods The healthcare professionals in the first branch of a hospital who supported fever clinics and isolation wards were assigned to the control group. They received the training through traditional teaching method including online learning and offline teaching. The healthcare professionals in the second branch of the hospital were assigned to the experimental group and received a repeated test training. The test scores after the training were compared between the two groups. Besides,the satisfaction rate in both groups was investigated. Results After the training,the scores of the experimental group and the control group were(95.26±3.74) and(89.46±5.08) respectively. All the healthcare professionals were qualified. The training satisfaction rate in the experimental group was 96.0% and that of the control group was 84.8%. Conclusion The repeated test can effectively improve the knowledge level of infection prevention and control of healthcare professionals in the fever clinics and isolation wards. It can help ensure the safety of patients and medical staff,which is worthy of promotion and application.

    The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) belongs to the category of “epidemic disease” in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). TCM has played an important role in prevention and control of epidemic disease for a long time. Our hospital was designated as the only TCM specific hospital to cope with COVID-19 in Henan province. We summarized the following key points and proposed some suggestions based on TCM regimen and thoughts for the public to prevent and control the disease:daily life prevention,diet care,emotional care,medication care,appropriate TCM therapy and TCM health exercise.

    During the epidemic period of COVID-19,a tertiary stomatological hospital has adjusted and optimized the diagnosis and treatment process for oral emergency with spray treatment in order to effectively avoid cross infection between patients and healthcare professionals. The measures mainly included:taking temperature for patients,conducting epidemiological investigation;confirming the necessity of spray treatment,performing three levels of protection,requiring patients rinse their mouth by the povidone-iodine solution for at least 2 minutes,and disinfecting the environment and materials according to the national requirements for COVID-19. During the epidemic,a total of 2 336 oral emergency patients were admitted to our hospital. Of these,111 patients with oral emergency completed spray treatment,and no cross-infection was observed. Patients did not have fever during the follow up after surgery.

    Objective To explore the effects of COVID-19 Micro-lecture training for ICU healthcare professionals. Methods The teaching group was established by the local intensive care alliance. The specific contents regarding prevention and control of COVID-19 were screened and selected. All healthcare professionals in ICU of the whole city were required to learn these contents online and attend the examination. Feedback of the training was collected through questionnaire. Results Totally 508 ICU medical staff gave their feedback and 466(91.7%) healthcare professionals completed the whole sessions of the training. The average satisfaction rate regarding the training duration,contents,significance,skills,gains,and feelings was 95.7%. Conclusion The online Micro-lecture which is conducted by the intensive care quality control center has good teaching effects for the main staff who are battle with the virus.

    Objective To investigate the COVID-19 knowledge in nurses. Methods A questionnaire was developed to investigate the basic knowledge and protection knowledge of COVID-19 in nurses in two tertiary general hospitals in Hunan Province. Results The total average score of COVID-19 was 56.74±10.85,of which average score of basic knowledge was 25.93±6.39 and prevention knowledge was 30.82±6.51 in 3 119 nurses. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that hospital level,professional title,educational level,gender,and department were the influential factors of knowledge,which could explain 46.0% variation. Conclusion Nurses’ knowledge level about COVID-19 is relatively low and training is urgently needed. The training should particularly target the nurses with male gender,low educational level and professional title. Those who do not work in ICU should also be trained. The COVID-19 prevention and control training program should be improved to increase the program effects.

    Analysis of learning behavior of social learners in MOOC “Health Assessment”

    Objective To explore the learning behavior characteristics of social learners in MOOC. Methods The data were retrieved from the MOOC data of two sessions of Health Assessment at Sun Yat-sen University. We analyzed the study behaviors of the whole learners and different types of learners. Results A total of 8 173 registered social learners were enrolled in the two sessions,of which 550(6.7%) achieved the final score,and the participation rate of them showed a decreasing trend in all tests(R 2=0.513,β=-0.161,F=9.479,P=0.013). There were 34 committed learners(6.2%),233 early dropout learners(42.4%) and 283 irregular learners(51.5%) among learners who achieved final results . Except for the first test,the final test and the two tests(laboratory examination and imaging examination)with relatively higher professional requirements,there was no significant difference between the three groups in most tests. In terms of discussion,the proportion of committed learners participating in discussion was the highest(76.5%),and non-committed learners were more willing to participate in teacher-guided and purposefully case discussions(P<0.05). Conclusion The majority of social learners participating in MOOC were non-committed learners(early dropout and irregular learners).There was no significant difference in the learning effects of different types of learners in most projects(except those with high professional difficulty).In terms of online interaction,most committed learners actively participated in case discussion and free discussion,while non-committed learners preferred to participate in case discussion rather than free discussion.

    Objective To explore the effects of PICC training on knowledge and compatible skills of nurses within the medical partnerships. Methods The training was developed into 4 parts including theoretical knowledge,practical ability,skill performance,and real work performance according to results of previous analysis. Thirty-six nurses were recruited from the medical partnerships. After the training,their knowledge,skills,and satisfaction with the training were compared with another 36 nurses of the tertiary hospitals. Results The score of basic knowledge and skill after the training were significantly higher than those before the training(P<0.001). The training satisfaction rate reached 95.7%. There were no significant differences regarding the knowledge,skills,and satisfaction with the training between nurses from the medical partnerships and their counterparts(P>0.05). Conclusion The PICC training of nurses can effectively improve the score of basic knowledge,skill,the training satisfaction of nurses from the medical partnerships. The training can help these nurses achieve the same level of nurses from tertiary hospitals.

    Chinese nursing education is moving towards the stage of international integration,and results-oriented education(OBE) is the key step. To achieve the goal of students training and the expected learning effects,Human Normal University Medical College introduced the OBE theory into the teaching reform of nursing specialty. The design is to determine the training goals through social needs,restructure the curriculum system,optimize the teaching content,establish a teaching platform and build up an evaluation system. By actively teaching reforms,it provides theoretical basis and practical experience for the training mode of nursing professionals.

    Objective To explore the effects of clinical thinking and decision-making course for students of Master of Nursing Specialist(MNS). Methods We selected 50 students of MNS from a nursing college of Hunan province and used SNAPPS method to teach clinical thinking and decision-making courses. Teachers explained and guided students’ learning through cases according to the steps of summarizing,narrowing,analyzing,probing,planning and selecting. The examination scores and evaluation from students were compared between the students recruited in 2017 and in 2018. Results The comprehensive examination scores,autonomous learning ability,inquiry learning ability,communication and summary ability,clinical thinking ability and teaching satisfaction of students in 2018 were significantly higher than those of students in 2017(P<0.05). Conclusion The course of clinical thinking and decision-making for students with MNS is beneficial to the cultivation of students’ clinical thinking ability,and worth of promotion.

    Objective To explore the effects of scenario simulation teaching in nursing humanities course in the high vocational college. Methods Totally 600 nursing students recruited in 2016 were assigned into the control group and received group discussion and case analysis teaching model. Another 640 nursing students recruited in 2017 were assigned into the experimental group and received scenario simulation teaching model. The empathy ability and humanistic care ability between the two groups were compared. Results The overall score of empathy ability and humanistic care ability of students in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Scenario simulation teaching model has better effects than the traditional teaching method.

    Traditional case-based learning is facing multiple challenges such as insufficient information technology support in teaching resources,insufficient supervision and dynamic evaluation in teaching process,and heavy workload in curriculum management. Based on the four teaching strategies of “Teaching,Learning,Evaluation,and Thinking”,the internet teaching platform of case database of nursing was developed including ten modules of case-teaching,case-management,case-study,case-testing,diagnostic-evaluation,formative-evaluation,achievement-evaluation,case-evaluation,role-advancement,and reflection. It is hoped that the platform-based and case-based learning method will provide a reference for case-based learning in Internet era.

    Objective To explore the mediating effect of mindfulness level between death anxiety and hospice care attitude. Methods A total of 331 nursing interns from a tertiary hospital in Changsha were investigated with Templer’s Death Anxiety Scale,Mindful Attention Awareness Scale and Frommelt Attitudes Toward Care of the Dying Scale. The Process of SPSS were used to test the mediating effect of mindfulness level on the relationship between death anxiety and hospice care attitude among nursing interns. Results The score of death anxiety was negatively correlated with hospice care attitude( β=-0.523,P<0.001). The negative correlation were still significantly when added a mediator of mindfulness level in death anxiety and hospice care attitude( β=-0.407,P=0.001),and the intermediary effect(-0.116)accounts for 22.18% of the total effects(-0.523). Conclusion The mindfulness level of nursing intern plays an intermediary role between death anxiety and hospice care attitude,which can provide a new reference for improving hospice care attitude of nursing students.

    Objective To compare the effects of different training methods on personal protective skills of healthcare professionals dealing with epidemic infectious diseases. Methods A total of 138 physicians and nurses were recruited and divided into the A,B and C group randomly. The trainings were conducted according to the guidelines of Chinese Center for Disease Control(CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). Healthcare professionals in group A received the training of “picture illustration and skill demonstration”. Healthcare professionals in group B received another training strengthening these points which were easily missed besides contents in group A. Group C received “number highlighted” besides the contents of group B. The contamination spots and the time duration of putting off the personal protective equipment(PPE) were compared among the three groups. Results There were no significant differences in the number of contamination spots on the body surface among the three groups(P>0.05) after removal of PPE according to the guidelines of Chinese CDC. However,the number of contamination spots in group B and C was significantly less than that in group A after the removal of PPE according to WHO guideline (P<0.05). Time duration of removing PPE in group C was significantly shorter than that in group A and B (P<0.05). Conclusion Each training method has its own advantages and limitations. Hospitals can improve the knowledge,attitude,and behaviors of their healthcare professionals with consideration of the training resources,human resources,material resources and other conditions.

    Objective To strengthen the management of nurses with master’s degree and improve the efficacy of management. Methods The management matrix was constructed and applied in the management of nurses with master’s degree. Results Thirty-six nurses with master’s degree attended the matrix organization,which was carried out in nursing quality,teaching,nursing scientific research and specialized nursing. The expected goal achievement rate was 88%. Conclusion The traditional vertical management was broken and the matrix organization can promote the development of nurses with master’s degree,and improve the effectiveness of management.

    Objective To explore the mediating effect of hope level on fear of disease progression and reproductive anxiety of female digestive cancer patients. Methods A total of 285 female patients with the digestive cancer in our hospital from January 2017 to January 2018 were selected. All participants were investigated with the Chinese version of Herth Hope Scale,the Chinese version of the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form,the Chinese version of Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale. The structural equation model was used to do the route analysis. Results The hope score was(32.44±4.85),the fear of disease progression score was(43.53±6.71),and the reproductive anxiety score after cancer was(65.42±8.14) in female patients with digestive system cancer. Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that there was a moderately positive correlation(r=0.652,P<0.001) between the development of fear disease and post cancer reproductive concerns and a moderate negative correlation(r=-0.535,-0.542,P<0.001)between hope and the development of fear disease and post cancer fertility anxiety. Hope has the mediating effect (0.143) between fear of disease progression and post cancer fertility anxiety,accounting for 24.21% of the total effects. Conclusion Fear disease progression and reproductive concerns of female patients with digestive system cancer are higher,and the hope level is relatively low. Hope level can inhibit the progress of fear disease and aggravate the effect of reproductive concerns.
