Abstract:

This paper systematically reviews the research progress on the role clarity of nurses both domestically and internationally, summarizes aspects such as conceptual connotations, assessment tools, influencing factors, and future research directions. Role clarity is a core variable affecting nurses’ work adaptation, mental health, and nursing quality, jointly influenced by factors across multiple dimensions including organizational structure, leadership support, personal traits, and work environment. Among these, clear job responsibilities, active feedbackseeking behavior, and effective teamwork are key mechanisms for enhancing role clarity, while excessive workload, complex departmental characteristics, and insufficient organizational support significantly weaken role clarity among nurses. Future research should strengthen longitudinal designs and cross-cultural comparisons, and pay attention to the impact of digital transformation on nurses’ role cognition.
