Abstract:

Objective To develop a virtual simulation experiment for creating age-friendly living environments and explore its application effects. Methods Based on virtual simulation technology and the knowledge of age-friendly environmental care,a virtual simulation experiment for creating age-friendly living environments was constructed, including two modes of “transformation learning and independent creation” and four links of “evaluation, identification, transformation, and creation”. It was applied to the experimental teaching of “daily life care” for 179 undergraduate nursing students in the class of 2020 majoring in Geriatric Nursing. After the end of the teaching project, the students’ training time, system visit frequency, scores in the two modes were analyzed. The students were invited to evaluate the usability of the system and the recognition of the teaching project. Results The login frequency of 179 students was 5(3,9) times;the online learning duration was 81(58,105) minutes;the score of the transformation learning mode was(93.28±8.82) points;the score of the independently created works was(89.35±4.17) points;the score for the usability of the system was(69.62±13.34) points. Meanwhile,98.3%(176/179) of the students indicated that the overall arrangement of the teaching project was good and feasible,97.8%(175/179) of the students indicated that the teaching project was conducive to mastering the knowledge and skills of age-friendly environmental care, and 98.9%(177/179) of the students indicated that the teaching project was conducive to improving their ability and awareness level of innovating the age-friendly environments. Conclusion The recognition of this experiment by students is relatively high. This experiment helps students master the knowledge and skills of age-friendly environmental care and improves their ability to innovate the age-friendly environments. It has certain usability and is worth promoting and applying.
