Abstract:

Objective To translate and validate the Chinese version of the Adaptive Capacity Index of advanced cancer patients, and to provide a suitable assessment instrument for patient to assess the cancer-related fatigue. Methods A Chinese version scale was formed by translation,cross-cultural debugging and pre-experimentation. Seven experts were invited to conduct content validity tests. Four hundred and twenty-one patients with advanced cancer were surveyed by questionnaire, and item analysis, internal consistency analysis and validity analysis were conducted and 30 patients with advanced cancer who met the criteria were selected for retesting 2 weeks later to test the retest reliability. Results The Chinese version of the Adaptive Capacity Index includes 5 dimensions of cognitive function, endurance and muscular endurance, emotional response, social interaction, and sleep quality, with a total of 30 items. The exploratory factor analysis showed that the cumulative variance contribution rate was 80.942%. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scale fitting index reached the adaptation standard (χ2/df=2.400, GFI=0.784, NFI=0.863, RFI=0.845, IFI=0.915, TLI=0.903, CFI=0.914, PNFI=0.764). The content validity at the scale level was 0.993,and the content validity at the entry level was 0.8-1.0. The Cronbach’s α coefficient of the Chinese scale was 0.853,the test-retest reliability of the scale was 0.807. Conclusion The Chinese version of the scale has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an assessment tool for the ability to assess the adaptability to cancer-related fatigue in patients with advanced cancer in China.
