The current status and influencing factors of ethical sensitivity of nursing students

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the ethical sensitivity of nursing students and analyze its influencing factors,in order to provide reference for the improvement and development of ethical education of nursing students in medical schools. Methods From February to April 2023,525 nursing students were surveyed using the general information questionnaire,Chinese version of the Ethical Sensitivity Questionnaire for Nursing Students,Chinese version of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals and Chinese version of the Organizational Climate for Caring Questionnaire. Results The overall score of the ethical sensitivity level of 525 nursing students was (33.98±6.02),and the training time of nursing ethics related courses,familiarity with nursing ethics knowledge,communication skills,empathy ability and organizational care atmosphere were proved to be the influencing factors of nursing students’ ethical sensitivity(all P<0.05),which could explain 31.0% of the total variation in nursing students’ ethical sensitivity. Conclusion The ethical sensitivity of nursing students needs to be improved,and colleges and universities should formulate relevant courses and training programs to enhance their ethical sensitivity.
