    Development of a blended Golden Course of Introduction to Nursing

    Based on the developmental goal of Golden Course from Ministry of Education,as well as course characteristics of Introduction to Nursing,this paper analyzed current problems in teaching and learning,and expounded the goal and significance of the development of Golden Course using online/offline blended teaching model. Golden Course centered on “cultivating students' ability to solve professional problems”,which was accomplished through the content construction and application in the course. The effects and a reflection of the course reform were finally introduced to provide reference experience in future reform.

    Objective To explore the effects of physical-cognitive dual-task training based on self-determination theory in older diabetic patients with mild cognitive impairment. Methods From January to June 2019,older patients with diabetes combined with mild cognitive impairment in endocrinology wards of a general hospital in Henan province were assigned to the experimental group(n=37)and the control group(n=36). Patients in the control group received routine nursing care,while on this basis,patients in the experimental group received the physical-cognitive dual-task training.The blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,cognition level,balance function and daily living ability of the two groups before intervention,after intervention,and after 12 weeks of intervention were compared. Results There were interaction effects between the two groups regarding the blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,cognitive level,balance function,and ability of daily living(P<0.05). The simple effect analysis showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the physical self-care scores of patients between the two groups after intervention(P>0.05). All the other outcomes of patients in the experimental group after intervention and after 12 weeks of intervention were better than those of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Physical-cognitive dual-task training based on self-determination theory can effectively improve the blood glucose level,cognitive level,balance function and daily activity ability of older diabetic patients with mild cognitive impairment.

    Evidence summary of enteral nutrition management in patients with cirrhosis ascites

    Objective To summarize the best evidence of enteral nutrition management in patients with cirrhosis ascites. Methods Evidences of enteral nutrition management in patients with cirrhosis ascites were retrieved from the databases of UpToDate,BMJ Best Practice,Cochrane Library,PubMed,NICE,China Biomedical Literature Database,and Wanfang database from the inception to June 2020. The evidence resources could be systematic review,guideline,evidence summary,expert consensus,clinical decision making,and practice recommendation. The Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI) evidence-based health care center corresponding quality assessment tools for the system evaluation and expert consensus for quality assessment were both used for the quality assessment. The 2017 update of AGREE Ⅱ guide standards for guide literature evaluation was used to determine the quality level of evidence. Results A total of 8 papers were included with one systematic review,six guidelines and one expert consensus. A total of 18 best evidences were summarized from five aspects:nutritional assessment of patients with cirrhosis ascites,various nutritional intake requirements,enteral nutrition routes,enteral nutrition forms,and education and follow-up. Conclusion Evidence summary of enteral nutrition management for patients with cirrhosis ascites comes from multiple countries and regions in and out of China. The paper provides evidence-based basis for management of enteral nutrition in patients with cirrhosis ascites for medical workers in the future.

    A review of virtual community in the field of health education for patients with chronic diseases

    With the development of the Internet,the online interactions between patients and medical staff are increasing. Virtual community is then beginning to emerge. In recent years,more and more researchers have begun to apply it in the field of health education for patients with chronic diseases. The virtual community can reduce the anxiety of patients,improves their quality of life. Therefore,this paper summarizes the virtual community in health education of patients with chronic diseases including concept introduction,types,application status and existing problems. We hope to provide references in Internet-based health education of patients with chronic diseases for Chinese medical staff.

    This article reviews the classification of exercise therapy and the current status of its application for fear of falls in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Exercise therapy mainly included conventional physical training,dance therapy and treadmill training. We discussed the effects of exercise therapy and summarized the existing problems in current research. We aimed to provide references to develop scientific and effective nursing care for fear of falling in patients with Parkinson’s disease.

    Objective To explore the effects of the case teaching based on Tanner model on clinical judgment and reasoning abilities of nursing undergraduates. Methods Eighty nursing undergraduates were recruited and divided into 2 online classes,and each class was divided into 8 groups. The online teaching focusing on geriatric cases was provided to these students. Students were guided to carry out inter-professional discussions based on the Tanner model and to do clinical judgement from the following dimensions of noticing,interpreting,responding,and reflecting. Before and after the course,students were asked to complete the questionnaires of the Chinese version of the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric(C-LCTR) and Self-Assessment of Clinical Reflection and Reasoning. The teaching feedback questionnaires were used to understand nursing students' evaluation on the teaching activities. Besides,students' changes and their suggestions for the teaching were also collected. Results After the course,the scores of clinical judgment of the nursing undergraduates were higher than those before the course in noticing,interpreting,responding and reflecting dimensions and the total C-LCJR score(P<0.001). The scores of Self-Assessment of Clinical Reflection and Reasoning of nursing undergraduates were also higher compared to those before the course(P<0.001). A majority of nursing undergraduates agreed that they would be more confident to be engaged in geriatric health care in the future. They were satisfied with the teaching activities as a whole,and thought that the learning objectives of the curriculum were in line with the needs of ability development. Conclusion The multidisciplinary online case teaching based on Tanner model can improve the clinical judgment ability and clinical reasoning of nursing undergraduates. The course is based on the cases of the older adults with multiple diseases and it can enhance students' confidence to be involved in geriatric nursing.

    Objective To explore the effects of online teaching in the clinical teaching of Neonatal Nursing for undergraduates. Methods Online teaching was used. Video teaching was used to train clinical skills(2 teaching hours). Students were required to record their skills performance and submit the videos. Their performance in the videos were commented and discussed online by the teachers. Regarding the clinical thinking training(4 teaching hours),case teaching,virtual simulation system as well as online discussion and reflection were used. Case teaching was comprised of comprehensive case analysis and unfolding case analysis. A questionnaire survey was used to investigate students’ recognition of the online teaching mode. Results Students supported unfolding case analysis(92%)and comprehensive case analysis(90%). They reported that the online teaching could strengthen the ability to use knowledge comprehensively(95%),improve humanistic literacy(91%),and enhance critical thinking and decision-making skills(87%). Conclusion Online teaching in the clinical teaching of Neonatal Nursing has good effects. Unfolding case analysis for cultivating students’ clinical thinking and virtual simulation system practice for training students’ clinical judgment and decision-making abilities can be useful supplements to traditional offline clinical teaching.

    The effects of objective structure clinical examination on the core competence in students majored in foreign-related nursing in higher vocational colleges

    Objective To examine the effects of objective structure clinical examination(OSCE) on core competence of students majored in foreign-related nursing in higher vocational colleges. Methods The OSCE was developed based on the nursing cases with the clinical nursing process as the main line. The core competence of foreign nursing was the evaluation dimension of OSCE. Six examination stations were established including nursing assessment,nursing diagnosis and plan,emergency nursing,basic nursing,specialized nursing,and health education. The examination was conducted in 105 students in a higher vocational school. Students’ examination performance,examination difficulty,and examination discrimination were evaluated. Examination appraisals from students and teachers were also collected. Results The mean score of OSCE was 72.52±9.50 and followed a normal distribution. The difficulty indexes of each station were 0.62~0.79,and the discrimination indexes were 0.41~0.74. Teachers and students gave high value to the OSCE. Conclusion OSCE can comprehensively assess the core competence of students majored in foreign-related nursing in higher vocational colleges,and had good feasibility and effectiveness.

    The correlation between caring ability and caring atmosphere among nursing undergraduates

    Objective To understand the current situation of caring ability of nursing undergraduates,and to explore the correlation between caring ability of nursing undergraduates and the caring atmosphere of peer groups and organizations. Methods The Caring Ability Inventory,Peer Group Caring Interaction Scale and Organizational Climate for Caring Questionnaire were used to investigate 343 nursing undergraduates from two colleges. Results The total score of caring ability Inventory of nursing undergraduates was 187.43±18.92. Organizational and peer group caring atmosphere were positively correlated with caring ability(r=0.492、0.446,P<0.05). Conclusion The caring ability of nursing undergraduates is on an average level. Strengthening the construction of caring atmosphere will help promote the improvement of caring ability of college nursing students.

    Objective To understand the status of prosocial behavior and empathy ability of higher vocational nursing students and their relationship. Methods The level of prosocial behavior and empathy ability of 455 nursing students in a vocational college in Beijing were investigated with the Jefferson Scale of Empathy for Nursing Students and the Prosocial Tendencies Measure in April 2020. Results The score of prosocial behavior was(89.13±11.59);the score of empathy ability was(104.33±13.92),the score of prosocial behavior was positively correlated with empathy(r=0.723,P<0.05). Conclusion The prosocial behavior and empathy of higher vocational nursing students need to be improved. It is suggested that nursing educators should pay attention to the improvement of prosocial behavior and empathy of higher vocational nursing students.

    Objective To develop OSCE cases in Emergency Nursing. Methods Based on literature analysis,we prepared OSCE teaching cases through group discussion. Ten experts were invited for two-round consultations and the cases were revised according to experts’ suggestions. Case quality were also evaluated by the experts when the second consultation was conducted. Results Six cases(triage and admission assessment process,transfer of critical patients in hospital,cooperation of rescuing patients with respiratory failure,adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation,gastric lavage for organophosphorus pesticide poisoning,hemostasis,bandaging,fixation and transportation of patients with trauma) were developed.Each case included 7 parts with background,objective,preparation before training,standardized patient’s information and scenario,scenario change,evaluation and feedback,and lectures.The scores of case quality ranged from 88.60±1.76 to 91.00±1.50. Conclusion The six cases have high quality and can be used in Emergency Nursing practice teaching.

    Objective To explore the effects of experiential teaching in the endocrinology department for nursing undergraduates. Methods A total of 36 nursing undergraduates enrolled in 2018 were recruited and treated as the experimental group and the experiential teaching was used in this group. Another 36 students enrolled in 2017 were regarded as the control group and the traditional teaching mode was used in this group. Performance of the students between the two groups was compared in terms of examination performance,comprehensive skill evaluation,and the students' satisfaction with the clinical practice. Results Scores of examination performance and comprehensive skills evaluation were(89.56±6.76) and(89.87±3.55) respectively in the experimental group both of which were higher than those of students in the control group(80.56±8.38 and 84.98±4.41)(t=3.546,3.667;P<0.001). The overall score of satisfaction(4.22±0.41) of students in the experimental group was better than that of the control group(3.88±0.28)(t=2.888,P=0.007). Conclusion The experiential teaching is an effective teaching method and it is well accepted by the nursing undergraduates.

    The application of workshop in pressure injury training for nurses in rehabilitation department

    Objective To explore the effects of workshop used in pressure injury training for nurses in rehabilitation department. Methods A total of 96 nurses from 8 nursing units in the rehabilitation center of A tertiary hospital in Shenyang were selected. Six training topics were established including stage of pressure injury,prevention,treatment at each stage,position management,common dressing use,and pain management. All these topics were carried out in workshops. Theoretical analysis,skill experience,case participation,discussion and summary were used in the training. There was one topic per week(2 hours,12 hours in total). The knowledge and attitude scores of pressure injury were compared before and after the training,and the degree of recognition of nurses with the training was also investigated. Results Before the training,the knowledge and attitude scores of nurses were 6.50±1.50 and 22.65±2.55 respectively. After 3 months of training,the knowledge and attitude scores of nurses on pressure injury were 10.50±2.50 and 27.50±2.35 respectively. The score changes before and after the training were statistically significant(P<0.05). 98.9% of nurses thought that workshop could improve their skill ability,97.9% of nurses approved of the teaching method,and 96.9% of nurses thought that workshop could arouse their interests in learning. Conclusion The workshop training can improve nurses’ knowledge and attitude towards pressure injury. Besides,the workshop can stimulate nurses’ interests in learning and improve the training effects. It provides a new way for other practical training.

    Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Pressure Ulcer Management Self-Efficacy Scale for Nurses

    Objective To translate the Pressure Ulcer Management Self-Efficacy Scale for Nurses (PUM-SES) into Chinese,and to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the PUM-SES. Methods Brislin’s model was used to translate,back-translate,and culturally adjust the Chinese version of PUM-SES. Six experts were invited to conduct 2 rounds of content validity evaluation. A total of 1190 clinical nurses were recruited by convenient sampling from four tertiary hospitals in Henan province. Results The content validity index(CVI) of the PUM-SES was 0.967. The exploratory factor analysis(EFA) indicated four factors explaining 74.93% of the total variances,the structure is consistent with the original scale. The confirmatory factory analysis(CFA) indicated all measurements fit exceeded the recommended criteria:χ2/df=2.87,RMR=0.02,RMSEA=0.06,GFI=0.97,AGFI=0.95,TLI=0.93,IFI=0.91,CFI=0.97,PGFI=0.51. The Cronbach’s α of the PUM-SES was 0.948,and the test-retest reliability was 0.932 in this study. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PUM-SES was proved to be reliable and valid and can effectively assess the self-efficacy of nurses’ management of pressure ulcers in China.

    Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Nursing Professional Practice

    Objective To translate the Nursing Professional Practice scale into Chinese and to test its reliability and validity. Methods The Chinese version was obtained by back translation method,and was reviewed and culturally adjusted by a panel of 6 experts. A total of 674 nurses were recruited and were investigated by the Chinese version scale. The reliability and validity of the scale was analyzed. Results The range of I-CVI was from 0.667 to 1 and the S-CVI was 0.964. The exploratory factor analysis showed that three common factors were extracted,and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 64.103%. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fitting indicators reached the standard level. The test-retest reliability was 0.737. The internal consistency reliability coefficients were 0.981 for total scale,0.939,0.956 and 0.965 for the 3 factors respectively. Conclusion The Chinese version of the Nursing Professional Practice has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to assess the professional level of nursing practice in nurses.

    The mediating role of job control between transformational leadership and nurses’ innovative behavior

    Objective To understand the current situation of nurses’ innovative behavior in China and explore the mediating role of job control between transformational leadership and nurses’ innovation behaviors. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 3 987 nurses in 18 hospitals in eastern,central,and western China with the Transformational Leadership Questionnaire,Nurse Innovation Behavior Scale,and Nurse Job Control Scale. Results The mean score of nurses’ innovative behaviors was(3.07±0.66). The mediating effect test showed that job control had a mediating effect(β=0.106,P<0.001) between transformational leadership and nurses’ innovation behavior,accounting for 46.09% of the total effect. Conclusion The level of nurses’ innovative behavior is at medium. Nurse managers need to improve nurses’ job control by changing their leadership style and increasing work authorization to enhance nurses’ innovative behavior further.

    Objective In order to construct a “Internet+” centering pregnancy health care course for women in late pregnancy,and provide reference for developing online health education in third trimester. Methods Through literature review and expert demonstration,the content of“Internet +” centering pregnancy health care course was initially formed. In February to June 2020,Delphi technique was used to conduct two rounds of consultation with experts in the fields of clinical,teaching and scientific research in Beijing,Shanghai,Sichuan,Hunan,Hubei and Chongqing. Results The recovery rates of the two rounds of questionnaires were 94% and 100% respectively,and the overall authority coefficient was 0.863;the coordination degree of importance was 0.33 and 0.58 respectively(all P<0.05),and the coefficient of variation was 0.02~0.21. The final course includes 4 modules(first-level items) and 18 projects(second-level items). Conclusion “Internet +” centering pregnancy health care course for women in late pregnancy is scientificity and reliability,and can be used in the third pregnancy network health education.

    The nurses’ hospice care ability directly affects the patients’ quality of life. Hospice care courses and programs are effective measures to improve nurses’ knowledge,attitudes and behaviors,and are also commonly adopted measures to improve the quality of hospice care. This paper summarizes the research progress in the content,teaching methods,and effect evaluation of hospice care courses and programs in foreign,to provides a reference for future exploration of hospice care education and improvement of nurses’ hospice care ability.
