Abstract:

Objective To explore the effects of experiential teaching in the endocrinology department for nursing undergraduates. Methods A total of 36 nursing undergraduates enrolled in 2018 were recruited and treated as the experimental group and the experiential teaching was used in this group. Another 36 students enrolled in 2017 were regarded as the control group and the traditional teaching mode was used in this group. Performance of the students between the two groups was compared in terms of examination performance, comprehensive skill evaluation, and the students' satisfaction with the clinical practice. Results Scores of examination performance and comprehensive skills evaluation were(89.56±6.76) and(89.87±3.55) respectively in the experimental group both of which were higher than those of students in the control group(80.56±8.38 and 84.98±4.41)(t=3.546,3.667;P<0.001). The overall score of satisfaction(4.22±0.41) of students in the experimental group was better than that of the control group(3.88±0.28)(t=2.888,P=0.007). Conclusion The experiential teaching is an effective teaching method and it is well accepted by the nursing undergraduates.
