Objective To systematically evaluate the effectiveness of mindfulness intervention on physical and mental health of nursing students. Methods We performed a systematic search in PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang and VIP to collect studies about effects of mindfulness intervention on the mental and physical health of nursing students published from inception to March 2020. Meta-analysis was performed after two independent reviewers conducted literature screening, data extraction, and literature quality evaluation. Results Seven studies were recruited with 387 cases. The results of meta-analysis showed that the stress score[SMD=-0.95,95%CI(-1.21,-0.68),P<0.001],anxiety score[SMD=-0.72,95%CI(-0.98,-0.46),P<0.001],depression score[SMD=-0.59, 95%CI(-1.00,-0.17),P=0.006] of mindfulness intervention group was significantly lower than the score of non-mindfulness group. The mindfulness score of mindfulness intervention group was significantly higher than the score of non-mindfulness group after the mindfulness intervention[SMD=0.39,95%CI(0.09,0.68),P=0.01]. However, there was no statistically significant difference between mindfulness and non-mindfulness group about systolic pressure[MD=-0.95,95%CI(-4.50,2.59),P=0.60],diastolic pressure[MD=2.13,95%CI(-2.60,6.86),P=0.38] and heart rate[MD=1.50,95%CI(-4.61,7.60),P=0.63]. onclusion Mindfulness intervention can improve the stress, anxiety, depression and mindfulness of nursing students.
