    The instructor’s facilitation ability is a guarantee of the effectiveness of the simulation. This paper aimed to interpret the “INACSL Standards of Best Practice:Simulation SM Facilitation” in detail including the cognitive and skill requirements of simulation teaching facilitators,the selection of mentoring methods,the connotation and purpose of the facilitation,and the problems that should be considered in the facilitation. The paper can provide references for the majority of Chinese nursing simulation instructors.

    Participant evaluation is a necessary part in teaching as it can be used not only to evaluate the learning effects of students but also to promote teaching quality of instructors. This article started from the background of education and simulation,based on Participant Evaluation in the INACSL Standards of Best Practice,critically discussed the process and quality improvement in implementation of participant evaluation in nursing simulation. We hope to share this and improve standardized implementation of participant evaluation in Chinese nursing simulation,provide reference for formulating our own standard of simulation,and further to promote high quality development of nursing simulation and quality of nursing education.

It aimed to provide theoretical framework and references for the implementation of debriefing and enhancing the quality of simulation.

    Successful teaching outcomes are dependent on a well-designed,high quality simulation experience. Therefore,it is necessary to evaluate the simulation experience to ensure the nursing education with the simulation is successful. This paper reviewed the frequently-used evaluation tools for simulations(including scenario design,simulation operation and debriefing) in nursing education,and provides valuable information to improve the simulation experience.

    Objective To develop a training program for nurses of the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) and to evaluate the program effects. Methods According to the training requirements,a Chinese medicine nursing training program was developed. Fifty-five clinical nurses from 39 medical institutions in Zhejiang Province were selected. The training program included 6-month theoretical training and 4-month clinical practice. Results All nurses passed the assessment and average score of the assessment was 90.16±2.17. The training satisfaction rate reached 96%. The number of nurses who initiated the clinical practice one year after training was as follows:55 for TCM Technology,52 for TCM nursing lectures,48 for TCM nursing round,39 for TCM nursing consultation,and 33 for TCM outpatient nursing clinics. Conclusion The training program for nurses of TCM is applicable and the effects are remarkable.

    Based on the outlines and objectives of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) Nursing,20 progressive cases were developed by referring to the real clinic cases collected from the hospital. These cases were used in the TCM teaching and contents of the cases involved syndrome differentiation of eight principles and visceral syndrome differentiation. The total time for the case teaching was 16 hours. The teaching process mainly included analysis of case teaching,discussion,and summary to help build up the TCM differentiation thinking and cultivate the problem solving ability. A total of 119 students took part in the case teaching and self-developed questionnaire was used to evaluate the teaching effects after the course. The score of case analysis was(9.59±0.20). Most students believed that it was helpful to learn key knowledge(96.6%) and the case teaching can improve the ability of TCM syndrome differentiation. It is found that the discussion part needs to be improved. Instructors should clearly discuss the problem and effectively play a guiding role.

    Objective To explore the effects of TCM health management program in patients with acute pancreatitis. Methods Fifty-eight acute pancreatitis patients were selected by convenient sampling in a tertiary hospital in Tianjin from January 2017 to May 2018. The TCM health management program included information gathering,documents building up,health assessment,intervention,follow-ups,and interactive evaluation. Results After the TCM health management program,the scores of the health practices abilities and all sub-dimensions were increased than those before the intervention(P<0.05). There were 53 patients returning to the hospital for check-ups,6 patients had complications,and 4 patients had disease recurrence. The complication rate(10.3%) was lower than the 37.5%(P<0.05) of those who did not implement a TCM health management program during the same period. Conclusion TCM health management program can improve health practices abilities. With the time going on,the healthy behavior ability of patients shows a gradual increasing trend.

    Objective To evaluate the effects of the curriculum ideological and political education teaching reform applied in the course of Nursing Ethics. Methods The ideological and political elements and the professional knowledge were integrated. Case based learning,class activities(debate,role-play),mind maps were applied in Nursing Ethics among 101 year 2 undergraduate nursing students. The exam performances were assessed by the combination of formative assessment and summative assessment. The effects of teaching reform were evaluated by the education committee,students and the course group. Results The overall evaluation of teaching reform by the experts of the education committee was good. Students’ overall satisfaction with teaching reform was 92.5%.The organization of case based learning and class activities needed further improvement from the reflection of the instructors. Conclusion The teaching reform enriches the ideological and political content,improves the teaching methods,and implements effective moral infiltration,which is conducive to the improvement of students’ ideological and political quality.

    Objective To explore the effects of one-to-one assistance among nursing students involved in Targeted Poverty Alleviation program. Methods A total of 82 nursing students from Targeted Poverty Alleviation program in a College of Fujian province were recruited. Those students who had excellent performance in their study or who were the student leaders were chosen to provide assistance to those students from the Targeted Poverty Alleviation program. We evaluated the effects of such one-to-one assistance from three aspects including recording cases of discipline violation,investigating students’ attitudes,and evaluations from both sides students. Results The cases of being late for class and missing the class were reduced after one to one assistance. Their scores of learning attitude was increased(t=3.152,P=0.002). More than 95% of the students who provided the assistance and more than 85% of the students who received the assistance accepted the one-to-one way highly. Conclusion One-to-one assistance could ameliorate the poor performance of students and improvetheir learning attitude. Students from both sides have improvement during the process. At the same time,the dilemma is also presented and the paper can provide a reference to other educational poverty alleviation projects.

    Objective To explore the demands of nursing postgraduates with full-time master degree in medical institutions of Fujian province. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among tertiary hospitals and nursing colleges in Fujian province. Results In the next five years,the total number demand for nursing postgra-duates in Fujian province is 504. The top five demands areas of tertiary hospitals were as follows:intensive care,emergency first aid and care,geriatric care,operating room care,and wound and stoma care. The average scores of ability assessment for nursing postgraduates were all above 4. Employers had a high demand for nursing research-related courses,while academic integrity was the most important factor the employers considered. Conclusion There is a large demand for nursing postgraduates in the next five years. Therefore,nursing schools can recruit more full-time nursing postgraduates to a certain extent. In addition,the training area should be more refined and quality of the postgraduates should be improved.

    Objective To explore the effects of online formative assessment applied in Medical Nursing. Methods Forty students of Grade 2016 were enrolled as the control group. Formative assessment in the control group included performance in the class,homework,and practical assessment. Forty-seven students of Grade 2017 were recruited as the experimental group. Based on the online learning platform,the formative assessment was designed and implemented. The formative assessment in the experimental group included the number of platform visits,online self-learning,performance in the class,online learning activities involvement,and online examination. Results The total number of online platform visits was 13 576 for the experimental group. The completion rates of video learning and document learning were 46% and 35% respectively. The rates of class participation and online group mutual evaluation were 68% and 19%,respectively. The completion rates of online assessment were 79% and 95% respectively. There was no significant difference in the examination scores of Medical Nursing between the experimental group(69.81±13.23) and the control group(71.12±4.85)at the end of the first semester. The score of Medical Nursing in the experimental group(81.38±3.96) was better than that of the control group(71.63±5.09) at the end of the second semester(P<0.05). Conclusion The online formative assessment is more comprehensive and objective. It is conducive to promoting students’ interest in learning. However,the construction and updating of online learning resource,the limitation of the network environment and the insufficiency of students’ autonomous learning ability are the limitations.

    Objective To systematically evaluate the qualitative research of clinical practice experience of postgraduates with master of nursing specialist,so as to provide basis for the formulation of clinical nursing teaching program. Methods The data base was searched comprehensively by computer,and the qualitative research was collected during the clinical practice of postgraduates majoring in nursing. After evaluation of the literature quality,meta integration method was used to integrate the results. Results A total of 13 studies were included,44 clear research results were extracted,and the similar results were summed up and combined into 6 new categories,and integrated into 3 results:graduate students benefited from clinical practice,but also felt physical and psychological fatigue;the positive role of senior teachers;clinical practice teaching arrangements and assessment standards need to be further improved. Conclusion It is necessary to strengthen the physical and mental health education of nursing educators for postgraduates of nursing master’s degree,make individualized clinical practice plan,refine clinical practice assessment standards,and provide clear direction for nursing educators.

    Objective To develop a swallowing training for nurses and to evaluate the effects of this training program. Methods The training contents were designed guided by the clinical needs from six aspects:clinical practice,clinical thinking,nursing management,nursing education,nursing humanities,and nursing scientific research. The training was consisted of two parts:theoretical teaching(154 hours)and clinical practice(280 hours). The theoretical assessment and clinical practice assessment after training were conducted. The core competencies of nurses before and after training were investigated by self-designed questionnaire. Results The qualified rate of theoretical assessment and clinical practice assessment after the training was 100%. The total score of core competence of nurses after the training was(87.57±11.89). Compared with the score before training,the scores and total scores of core competence of nurses in all dimensions were significantly improved(P<0.001). Conclusion Nurses’ abilities have been improved after swallowing training. In the future,we should combine professional development with advanced training experience,and constantly improve the training of swallowing specialty nursing.

    Objective To introduce an experiment for simulating the recirculation of central venous catheter in hemodialysis and explore the effect of its application in nurse education. Methods To design an experiment that demonstrate the recirculation of central venous catheter connected in standard and reverse configuration during hemodialysis treatment,and then test the teaching effect by examining the knowledge mastery of nurses. Results The scores after the experimental demonstration were higher than these before the demonstration,and the difference was statistically significant(t=18.779,P<0.001). Conclusion Experimental demonstration can effectively assist teaching and get better teaching effect.

    The effects of a death education on attitude towards death and death anxiety of nurses in the emergency department

    Objective To explore the effects of death education on attitude towards death and death anxiety of nurses in the emergency department. Methods A total of 34 nurses in the emergency department of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University were selected. They received a 12-hour death education course based on dealing with sudden death model,including self-preparation stage,confronting death stage,and summarizing stage. Results After the intervention,the score of death terror in DAP-R was significantly lower than that of pre-intervention,and the scores of natural acceptance,approach acceptation,and flee acceptance were elevated profoundly(P<0.05). The score of death anxiety in T-DAS was decreased markedly after the intervention(P<0.05). Conclusion The death education courses based on dealing with sudden death model can positively influence the death attitudes of emergency nurses,and reduce their death anxiety.

    Development of ICU pre-admission standardized visiting contents

    Objective To develop an ICU pre-admission standardized visiting contents which is suitable for clinical application in China and to evaluate its effects. Methods The theoretical framework and item pool were developed through literature review and patients’ semi-structured interview. The contents of the visiting were adjusted and revised with two rounds of Delphi method. A total of 135 patients who would transferred to ICU were visited before entering the room with standardized interview contents,and the visiting effects was evaluated by the self-made questionnaire. Results The degree of experts’ authority were 0.78. The two rounds’ Kendall’s coordination coefficients of ICU pre-admission visiting scale were 0.17~0.30. The contents of ICU pre-admission visiting include 6 first-level items which contained personnel introduction,environment introduction,related system introduction,communication and cooperation,common discomfort,and preparation of appliances,18 second-level items and 39 third-level item. The total scores of the questionnaire was 18.40±0.53,indicating a good visiting effects. Conclusion The development of ICU pre-admission visiting contents are based on sufficient theoretical evidence. The process of construction is scientific,standardized,and reasonable. It has good clinical practicability. They are suitable for the use of ICU pre-admission visit.

    Objective To investigate the effect of a short video based on Internet platform on swallowing function of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma by radiotherapy. Methods The control group was consisted of 30 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer from November 2017 to April 2018 and 32 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer from May 2018 to November 2018 were selected as intervention group. In the control group,routine nursing intervention was used. The interventional group adopted short video the interventional measures based on routine nursing intervention. Before radiotherapy and 3 months after the end of radiotherapy,the differences of M.D.Anderson Dysphasia Inventory(MDADI) scale score and the distance of the incisors between two groups were evaluated. Results The scores of MDADI scale(67.19±3.23)and incisor distance(4.63±1.15) was significantly higher in the intervention group after radiotherapy than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The short video based on Internet platform can improve the rehabilitation and exercise enthusiasm of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma their improve dysphagia.
