Abstract:

Objective To develop a virtual simulation teaching platform for pre-hospital emergency care based on real clinical scenarios, and to explore a new nursing education model that integrates technical training with value cultivation. Methods Guided by the Jeffries Nursing Simulation Theory, the platform was constructed around three core dimensions, including professional skills, situational immersion, and value orientation, with 29 key operational nodes. A single-arm prospective design was adopted, enrolling 54 undergraduate nursing students from two nursing schools. After platform-based training, teaching outcomes were evaluated using a mixed-methods approach, combining objective performance data collected from the platform with semi-structured interviews. Results The accuracy of the final operation for all 29 key nodes was higher than that of the first attempt, with 14 simulation nodes achieving 100% accuracy. Students who underwent three or more assessments completed the “120” pre-hospital emergency care,long-distance transport, and total modules significantly faster than those assessed only once(P<0.017). Qualitative analysis revealed key themes:immersive experience enhancing learning engagement, repeated practice promoting skill acquisition, and real-life narrative evoking value resonance, etc. Conclusion The platform transforms the strengths of China’s three-tier healthcare system into tangible embodied teaching resources, achieving deep integration of emergency skills training with ideological and political education. It offers a replicable practical pathway for nursing education that embodies the trinity of knowledge transmission, competency development, and value cultivation.
