Abstract:

Objective To investigate the attitude towards death of nursing undergraduates in Gansu province. Methods A total of 406 nursing undergraduates from three nursing schools were investigated by Chinese version of Death Attitude Profile-Revised from September to December 2019. Results The scores of nursing undergraduates were(4.50±0.35) for death escape dimension,(3.17±0.71)for death fear,(3.16±0.66) for approaching acceptance,(2.67±0.58)for escape acceptance, and(2.24±0.70) for natural acceptance. There were differences in the attitude towards death among nursing undergraduates with different genders, birthplaces, whether families talked about death, and whether they had exposed to death(P<0.05). Conclusion Nursing undergraduates in Gansu province generally have a negative attitude and escape death. It is suggested that nursing colleges should pay attention to death education based on students’ characteristics to develop death curriculum and to guide students establishing a scientific and positive death attitude.
