Abstract:

Objective To construct a knowledge graph for obstetric nursing clinical teaching and explore its application effects in the clinical internship teaching of undergraduate nursing students. Methods A convenience sampling method was adopted to select 120 undergraduate nursing students who were interning in the obstetric department of a tertiary hospital from July 2024 to April 2025. According to internship months, students were divided into the experimental group and control group, with 60 in each. The control group was taught using the conventional clinical teaching model, while the experimental group was taught using the obstetric clinical teaching knowledge graph. After the internship, the theoretical and operational assessment scores of the two groups were compared, and changes in their autonomous learning ability before and after the intervention were evaluated. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the students in the experimental group to understand their initial application experiences and suggestions regarding the knowledge graph. Results After the teaching, theoretical and operational scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(all P<0.05). The total score of autonomous learning ability and the scores of each dimension, including learning motivation, planning and implementation,self-management,and interpersonal communication,in the experimental group increased significantly more than those in the control group(all P<0.05). Four themes were extracted from the interviews:favorable usability and acceptability;integration of obstetric nursing knowledge and translation into clinical practice;facilitators and barriers to sustained use;and needs for platform optimization and teaching integration. Conclusion The application of the knowledge graph in obstetric nursing clinical internship teaching can effectively improve students’ theoretical knowledge, operational skills, and autonomous learning ability, helping them establish a systematic knowledge system and promote the integration of theory and practice. This model provides a new insights and empirical evidence for optimizing obstetric clinical nursing teaching.
