Objective To explore the learning experience of nursing students from secondary vocational colleges. Methods The qualitative research method was used to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews with 7 undergraduate nursing students from secondary vocational schools. Data were analyzed by Colaizzi data analysis. Results Five themes emerged from the data. Classroom learning experience:the knowledge level was not high and students had to pay more attention to the lectures. The experience of curriculum setting and teaching mode:students did not adapt to the curriculum setting and teaching mode, and their independent learning ability needed to be improved. Extracurricular activity experience:participating in extracurricular activities for extra credits is too utilitarian. Learning environment experience:students actively adapt to learning environmental changes disregarding whether the changes were good or bad. Examination experience:students were nervous and anxious before examination but they tried their best to cope. Conclusion Nursing students in secondary vocational schools have clear learning objectives and can better adapt to environmental changes due to their special learning experiences. The main problems are their weak theoretical knowledge and lack of independent learning ability.
