Objective To evaluate the standardization degree of 23 frequently-used nursing skills in clinical settings. Methods The participant observation was carried out among 40 nurses from four tertiary hospitals in Beijing to understand the standardization degree of 23 common nursing skills.Self-designed record and evaluation form were used to evaluate the standardization degree. Results The general standardization degree of 23 nursing skills was 66.30%±13.55%,according to the standardized operation procedures provided by hospitals. The standardization degree of aseptic operations was higher than that of non-aseptic operations(P<0.01). Four general problems were found during the evaluation including lack of assessment and explanation(34.78%±6.15%),lack of health education after the procedure(52.17%±6.15%),poor implementation of double-checking(38.04%±2.17%) and non-standard medication preparation(100%).Conclusion There are differences between actual nursing operation procedures in clinical settings and the standardized operation procedures provided by hospitals. Clinical nursing administrators should provide training to improve the standardization degree of nursing operations and revise nursing operation standardization regularly according to the development of nursing discipline.

Objective To observe the effects of crude salt thermotherapy on lipohypertrophy caused by insulin injection in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods The change of temperature of self-made crude salt package heated by microwave oven for 2 minutes was observed dynamically at first and the appropriate temperature was selected based on the initial observation. The lipohypertrophy caused by insulin injection in 34 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes was identified in the study. On the basis of routine diabetes health education, crude salt thermotherapy was used to alleviate the severity of lipohypertrophy. The duration of the intervention lasted for 2 weeks. The diameter of patient’s lipohypertrophy was measured and analyzed before and after the intervention. Besides, patients’ comfor-table level was also assessed. Results After the thermotherapy, the diameter of lipohypertrophy was(12.78±4.21) mm,which was significantly smaller than that of(5.36±4.17) mm before the intervention(P<0.01). The total effective rates was 88.2%(30/34). During the procedure,94.1% of the subjects reported the process of thermotherapy was comfortable while discomfort experience was also received from 5.9% participants. Conclusion The crude salt thermotherapy is convenient and easy. It can improve patients’,comfortable experience and alleviate the size of lipohypertrophy caused by insulin injection in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.

Objective To investigate the current status of standardization of cancer pain assessment by nurses in good pain management ward. Methods Totally 479 medical records from June to September 2017 were selected from the good pain management ward of 6 hospitals from Fujian,Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Henan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The self-developed questionnaire entitled “Evaluation Form of Cancer Pain Assess-ment” was used to evaluate the standardization of pain assessment recorded in those medical records. Results Among 479 medical records,410(85.59%)recorded standardized pain assessment satisfactorily. However,69(14.41%) records did not meet the standardization criteria. The standardization scores of each dimension were 98.80±8.85 for regular assessment,99.48±5.09 for quantitative assessment,93.57±14.12 for comprehensive assessment, and 92.41±16.15 for dynamic assessment. Nurses with different education degrees, titles, and working years had significantly different assessment qualification rates(P<0.05). Conclusion Nurses in the good pain management ward have a higher standardization rate of cancer pain assessment.Nurses’ ability of assessing the pain comprehensively and dynamically should be improved. Those nurses with higher education degree(bachelor or above),titles, and working years can perform more standardized pain assessment for cancer patients.

Objective To know the current situation of undergraduate nursing students’ career decision-making difficulties, and to analyze the correlation of career decision-making difficulties and professional social support. Methods A total of 169 undergraduate nursing interns from two universities were selected by convenient sampling. Career decision-making questionnaire and career-related social support scale were used to investigate the career decision and the occupational social support of nursing undergraduates. Results The total score of occupational decision-making difficulties of undergraduate nursing interns was(2.76±0.47),and the total score of occupation-related social support items of undergraduate nursing interns was(3.47±0.50). Occupational decision-making difficulties and occupation-related social support were negative correlation moderately(r=-0.417,P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the occupation-related social support entered the regression equation(P<0.05). Conclusion Undergraduate nursing interns have a medium level in career decision-making difficulties, and career decision-making difficulties is closely related to the career-related social support. Therefore, schools, hospitals, and family members should be encouraged to take corresponding measures to improve occupation-related social support and to reduce the career decision-making difficulties in order to promote the professional development of undergraduate nursing students and steady the professional team.
