    The National Standards for Nursing Teaching Quality(abbreviated as “National Standards”)is the first national standards for quality of higher education issued by the Ministry of Education of the People??s Republic of China. On the basis of the original “professional standards for undergraduate nursing education” and experience of the nursing program accreditation in the past 8 years,Nursing Professional Teaching Steering Committee completed the development of the“National standards”. This article mainly introduced the main connotation of “National Standards”and the significance of “National Standards”for the development of nursing.

    Educational plan is the core of specific training of a major and determines the training quality of talents. Training objectives as the logical starting point were further clarified in this article. The connotations of six evaluation indexes in educational plan including program plan,main courses,teaching methods,scientific methods,course management,and relationship with postgraduate and continuing education,were clearly interpreted at two levels of basic standards and developmental standards. Based on problems found in trial professional accreditation for some universities and colleges,key aspects of every index and evaluation points for reaching the professional standard were suggested. Measures taken to improve nursing teaching quality were provided.

    Teaching and researches are two basic functions of colleges and universities. Dealing with the relationship between them is an important issue that every university have to face.This article interpreted the relationship between teaching and research based on the National Standards for Nursing Teaching Quality,which was published by the Nursing Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education in 2018. The nursing schools should take measures to promote the development of teaching and research together from three aspects of school itself,teachers and students based on their own positions and conditions. We hope the interpretation will be helpful andprovide guidance to nursing schools and nursing educators regarding dealing with the relationship between teaching and research.

    This article interpreted the supplementary standards for universities of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the following aspects:training objectives,educational model,academic staff,facilities,and guarantee mechanism. Implementing this standard into practice contains some elements including transforming education philosophy,insisting on goal?oriented and problem?oriented,realizing the weakness,innovating and optimizing cultivation system,strengthening the faculty construction,valuing and cultivating the distinct advantage of TCM nursing discipline,constantly improving the quality of TCM nursing education.

    Objective To evaluate the effects of an integrated step-by-step nursing practical teaching program. Methods Literature review,theoretical research,and experts consultation were employed to develop the innovative nursing practical teaching program which included a joint training platform,an integrated step-by-step talent cultivating mode,and various educational resources. Results The program improved the quality of nursing talent cultivation,and enhanced the training effects of “Shuang-shi” teaching staff. The achievements of the reform were highly appreciated by the peer. Conclusion The integrated step-by-step nursing practical teaching program provides a reference for high quality nursing education.

    Objective To explore the effects of a new grief counseling course designed for nurses. Methods Fink model was used to design the course of grief counseling for nurses. Then the course was delivered to the nurses of a primary hospital. The survey was conducted by using the questionnaire of cognitive status and the feedback of the grief counseling course. Results Before and after the course,the scores of knowledge,attitude,and skill regarding grief counseling of nurses were greatly improved(P<0.05). Nurses accepted the course well. Conclusion The grief counseling course is scientific and practical. It can improve the attitude of nurses when they are facing a client with great grief. Besides,it can increase the knowledge level and skills of nurses for grief counseling.

    To improve the quality of nursing practice teaching system,we have constructed the nursing practice teaching system for the undergraduate students. The system focus on humanistic care and have four practice platforms. It aimed to cultivate the clinical practice ability,critical thinking ability,self-learning ability,innovation ability,and self-developed ability. The nursing practice teaching system developed received good feedback from students and can be a reference for other universities.

    Objective To explore the effects of health care curriculum reform for the elderly on health care ability of nursing students. Methods The teaching reform was conducted in the elective course of health care for the aged of students in Grade 2016,while students in Grade 2015 were taught by the traditional method. Results After the reform,the teaching quality was improved compared with that of the previous grade(P<0.05). In the final examination results of health care course for the aged,the score of Grade 16 was higher than that of Grade 2015(t=2.16,P=0.03). Conclusion The reform of health care course for the aged has been accepted by the students. Compared with the traditional teaching method,this teaching method pays more attention to the cultivation of students’ analysis ability,application ability and their professional skills. Meanwhile,it can improve the students’ practical skills.

    A survey of emotion management ability among undergraduate nursing students

    Objective To investigate the emotion management ability among undergraduate nursing students. Methods Five hundred and twenty-six undergraduate nursing students from year one to year four in Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were conveniently sampled and were investigated with questionnaires of general information and the College Students’ Emotion Management Ability Questionnaire. Results The mean score of emotion management ability among undergraduate nursing students was 3.81±0.48. Students’ emotion management ability was related to academic performance,parenting style,father’s occupation,family financial situation,monthly living expense and whether they were student group leader or not. Conclusion In general,the emotion management ability of students is good. Nursing educators should take positive and effective measures to improve students’ emotional management ability.

    Objective To analyze the research topics of academic nursing education related dissertations of graduates. Methods The researchers sorted and analyzed the annual distribution,research topics and key words about 483 nursing education dissertations published from 2011 to 2018 by content analysis. Results The amount of publications increased first and then decreased,and reached a peak of 85 in 2013;the research topics cover a wide range of 5 primary categories and 15 secondary categories. A total of 41 high-frequent keywords were found in the field of nursing education mainly focusing on “nursing undergraduates”. Conclusion The research topics of master dissertations of nursing education in China is gradually enriched,however, those topics are repeated and old;the research fields gradually expand,but annual distribution is unequal;the structure of research object is unreasonable;and the interdisciplinary studies need to be strengthened. It is suggested that nursing scholars should study nursing education from different levels,different disciplines and different angles in the future.

    Objective To understand the present situation of professional commitment of the higher vocational nursing students in Huangshan,and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods By using the stratified random sampling method,336 year three higher vocational nursing students in Huangshan were surveyed by the nursing professional commitment scale. The influencing factors were analyzed through multi-linear regression analysis. Results The total score of professional commitment of higher vocational nursing students was(98.06+12.96) which was higher than the mean value of 85. Gender,grade,the immediate family members engaged in medical care related professions,nursing as the first major choice and serving as the student leader were the influence factors of professional commitment. Conclusion The professional commitment of year three higher vocational nursing students is on the medium to upper level and it is influenced by many factors. Local education institutions and nursing educators should take corresponding measures to enhance the professional faith of nursing students and improve their professional commitment level.

    The effects of pressure dressing for children after cochlear implant will be greatly compromised due to their poor ability of self-control and scratch of the dressing at night. A new fixation belt specific for such patients was developed by health professionals from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. The belt can well fix the bandage and accepted by other health professionals. It can be promoted in the clinical practice.

    The article summarized the experience of caring of a patient with gas-related complication after cardiac achalasia surgery. The main points are as follows:closely observing the patient’s vital signs during the operation,rescuing and caring of the patient after the operation,communicating with patients and their families after the operation with patience to relieve her adverse emotions,and providing tailored psychological support for patients and her families. The patient was discharged 19 days after operation and she is in a good condition when followed up 1 year later.

    This article summarized the perioperative care of a patient with chronic tonsillitis and IgA nephropathy after tonsillectomy. Psychological support was provided before the surgery. Explanations regarding the surgical process and possible complications after surgery were also provided. Close observation of bleeding after surgery and timely taking targeted nursing interventions were the main measures we took. Personalized diet and rational medication direction were given to the patient combining the dietary characteristics of patients with kidney disease to reduce kidney damage and promote wound healing. Detailed discharge education was conducted. After careful care,the patient was discharged 8 days after surgery.
