Abstract:

Objective To investigate and analyze the current status of information literacy and self-learning ability of new nurses and to explore the correlation between them. Methods A survey was conducted among 133 new nurses in a tertiary hospital in Beijing in 2019 by using the Information Literacy Questionnaire and the Self-learning Ability Evaluation Scale of Nursing Staff. Results The total score of information literacy and self-learning ability was(80.30±9.88) and(130.94±22.15) respectively. The total score and each dimension of the information literacy were positively correlated with the self-regulated learning ability(r=0.321~0.531,P<0.01). Conclusion The information literacy and the ability of self-learning of new nurses needs to be improved. Nursing managers should strengthen the information literacy education of the nurses, and actively guide them to establish the awareness of self-learning and lifelong learning,so as to meet the requirements of training for new nurses.
