Objective To explore the effects of MiniQuest teaching model applied in Surgical Nursing. Methods From September to December 2018,four classes of nursing students of grade 2017 in a higher vocational college were selected randomly. Students were randomly divided into the experimental group(n=86) and the control group(n=90). The MiniQuest teaching model was used in the experimental group, which included three modules:situation, task, and achievement. Students could learn by themselves, discuss, and show their achievements. Students in the control group received traditional teaching which was mainly the classroom teaching. The teaching effects of the two groups were compared by examination scores and the scores of Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV).Results After the course, the examination scores and CTDI-CV scores of the nursing students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group with significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The MiniQuest teaching model used in Surgical Nursing can meet the individualized learning needs of nursing students in the higher vocational colleges. It can help cultivate their critical thinking and improve the teaching quality.

Objective To understand the radiation dose changes of patients receiving iodine after operation for differentiated thyroid cancer, and to discuss the best protection when patients were discharged and during the process of staying in hospital. Methods A total of 74 patients with differentiated thyroid cancer who received 131I treatment after surgery were selected. At 24 h,48 h,72 h and 96 h after treatment, the radiation dose levels on the neck and 1m far away from the patients were measured by the radionuclide therapy monitoring robot, and compared with the reference standards of discharge. Results At 24 h,48 h,72 h and 96 h after 131I treatment, the radiation dose 1m away from the patient was 270.11(202.46,427.18),64.02(39.01,101.19),16.74(10.07,27.69),5.28(3.41,10.40)respectively. At 24 h,48 h,72 h and 96 h after 131I treatment,0 patient,2 patients(2.7%),52 patients(70.3%)and 70 patients(94.6%)met the discharge dose requirements. Conclusion Radiation dose changes of thyroid cancer patients after 131I treatment is great among different patients. It is suggested to dynamically detect the radiation dose at 1 m after 131I treatment and individualized discharge schedule is advocated. Medical staff should be well protected when contacting patients, and the radionuclide therapy monitoring robot can be used to complete part of the work.

Objective To understand the physical restraint of ICU patients and to analyze the existing problems. Methods The data were obtained by checking the related nursing documents of physical restraint. Basis of patients' physical restraints, restraint methods, and duration of restraint were observed. The differences between the current practice and clinical guideline were compared. Results A total of 231 nursing documents were recruited and 64(27.7%) patients used physical restraint. The total duration of restraint was 7 906 hours with an average of 123.53 hours, the accuracy rate of the medical order and the implementation was 18%,and the nurse did not use the evaluation tool before the physical restraint. Conclusion There is a great gap between the present situation of physical restraint and clinical practice guidelines in ICU patients. It is necessary to standardize the restraint methods, assess the applicable patients, improve the restraint effects, and improve the health outcome of patients.
