Abstract:

Objective To design a micro-major teaching program in Lifecycle Health Management and explore its application effect. Methods A micro-major teaching program in Lifecycle Health Management was developed, with major steps including setting teaching objectives, clarifying teaching content and methods, building a teaching resource library, and designing a teaching implementation plan. From September 2022 to June 2023,13 undergraduate students from a university, including sophomores and above, were enrolled in the micro-major program in Lifecycle Health Management for two semesters. The teaching effect was evaluated through course grades and satisfaction surveys. Results The average score of the six courses among the 13 students was(89.2±3.9) points. Among the 13 students,12 expressed "great satisfaction" with the micro-major in Lifecycle Health Management. The top three reasons for the attractiveness of this micro-major were its practicality(13 students),interestingness (10 students),and the teaching by renowned teachers(10 students). All 13 students indicated that the micro-major courses broadened their horizons and enhanced their related professional knowledge, abilities, and qualities. In addition,11 students believed that the micro-major courses improved their problem-solving abilities and broadened their problem-solving approaches. Besides,9 students found the micro-major was very helpful to their major. Conclusion The micro-major in Lifecycle Health Management achieves good teaching results with high student satisfaction. This study can provide a reference for the implementation of micro-majors in health management in medical colleges and universities.
