Abstract:

Objective To translate the Pediatric Nurse Parent Partnership Scale (PNPPS) into Chinese, and to evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods After obtaining the authorization of the author of the source scale, the PNPPS was translated,back-translated and cross-cultural adjusted according to the Brislin model to form a Chinese version. A total of 186 pediatric nurses and 188 parents of hospitalized children from three tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Qingdao were investigated to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The Cronbach’s α coefficients of the pediatric nurse version and the parent version of PNPPS were 0.961 and 0.964,the test-retest reliability was 0.971 and 0.932,and the content validity was 0.954 and 0.943,respectively. After exploratory factor analysis, both the pediatric nurse version and the parent version of PNPPS extracted 7 common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rates were 72.10% and 73.51%,respectively.Conclusion The Chinese version of PNPPS has been proved to have good reliability and validity, and can be used to evaluate the partnership between pediatric nurses and parents of children in China.
