Application of standardized patient in skill assessment of specialty nurses in wound ostomy incontinence care

Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of standardized patient(SP) in skill assessment of specialty nurses in wound stoma incontinence care.Methods Nurses who have obtained the qualification of specialty nurses for wound stoma incontinence care were screened and trained. They made the assessment cases and acted as the SP in the skill assessment of specialty nurses in wound stoma incontinence care. After the assessment,nurses evaluated this assessment method.Results The mean score of skill assessment was(88.97±5.17). Most of the nurses accepted SP as the examination tool and agreed that SP could help them find the their limitations during the assessment process.Conclusion SP applied in the skill assessment of specialty nurses in wound stoma incontinence care can help assess the clinical comprehensive ability of the nurses and find their limitations.
