The correlation between the hospital care atmosphere perception and clinical communication competence of nursing interns

Abstract: Objective To investigate and analyze the status of hospital care atmosphere perception and clinical communication competence among nursing interns,and to explore their correlations. Methods A total of 654 nursing students in clinical practice were investigated with the questionnaire of Nursing Students' Perception of Hospital Caring Environment Scale and Clinical Communication Competence Scale. Results The total score of nursing interns' perception of hospital caring environment was(4.07±0.75),among which the lowest score was the dimension of caring perception given by teachers(3.96±0.95). The overall score of clinical communication competence was(3.09±0.38). There was a positive correlation between nursing interns' perception of hospital caring environment perception and clinical communication competence(r=0.526,P<0.05). Conclusion The perception of nursing interns' perception of hospital caring environment and their clinical communication competence were all above average level. Paying attention to the hospital care of nursing interns is helpful to improve their communication competence.
