Abstract:

Objective To investigate the self-transcendence level and its correlations with social support and coping style among patients with percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI). Methods A total of 121 patients with PCI were recruited from April 2019 to March 2020 by convenience sampling. The patients were investigated with the general information questionnaire, the Self-transcendence Scale(STS),the Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),and the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ). Results The score of the STS was(32.92±9.63),the score of the PSSS was(55.91±6.10),and the scores of the three subscales of the MCMQ were(18.95±4.70)for confrontation,(15.73±3.25)for avoidance,and(10.10±3.05)for surrender. The STS was positively correlated with the PSSS(r=0.448)and the confrontation subscale(r=0.468)(P<0.05),while it was negatively correlated with the subscales of avoidance(r=-0.427)and surrender(r=-0.389)(P<0.05). Conclusion The self-transcendence among patients with PCI is at a moderate level and associated with their social support and coping style. We should devote ourselves to improving patients’ perceived social support and guiding patients to adopt positive coping styles to improve patients’ self-transcendence.
