Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of grading management of dysphagia on reducing stroke-associated pneumonia. Methods A total of 560 patients with dysphagia in the Department of Neurology, the first affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January to June 2018 were selected and assigned into the interventional group. Another 512 patients with dysphagia from June to December 2017 in the same hospital were treated as the control group. According to the results of water swallow test, targeted interventions were adopted for acute those patients. Food character was changed by adding thickener for 2~3 test level. Intermittent tube feeding was provided for those with 4~5 test level. The patients in the control group with 2 test level or above were treated with tube feeding. Results Swallowing function in the experimental group was improved more significantly than that of the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of stroke-related pneumonia was reduced more than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Grading management of dysphagia can significantly improve the swallowing function of patients and reduce the incidence of post-stroke related pneumonia.
