Abstract:

Objective To explore the effects of toileting behaviors on risk of urinary incontinence in a community sample of young women without pregnancy. Methods This study was conducted among 331 young women without pregnancy living in 6 communities in Xuzhou from September to December,2020. The general information questionnaire, the Chinese Version of Women’s Toileting Behavior Scale, and the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-short form were used to collect the corresponding data. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the relationship between toileting behaviors and urinary incontinence. Results The overall prevalence rate of urinary incontinence was 14.2% in the study. The mean score for Women’s Toileting Behavior Scale was 2.69±0.72. Premature voiding behaviors dimension was significantly associated with urinary incontinence(OR=1.151,95%CI:1.038~1.277,P=0.008). Conclusion Premature voiding behaviors increase the risk of urinary incontinence in young women. Community health care workers should carry out urological health education for young women and actively advocate correct toileting behaviors.
