Abstract:

Objective To develop a questionnaire for measuring implementation intention of self-care in patients with enterostomy and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on the theory of implementation intention and the two specific forms of action planning and coping planning, the first draft of the questionnaire was formed by inviting 25 experts for two rounds of expert consultation and literature analysis. A total of 265 permanent enterostomy patients from a tertiary hospital in Qingdao were selected by convenience sampling to investigate the draft questionnaire. Seven experts were invited to conduct content validity evaluation. The critical ratio method, the correlation coefficient between items and total scores, and the homogeneity test were used to analyze the questionnaire items. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were tested by exploratory factor analysis, content validity,Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, and test-retest reliability. Results For the first-round expert consultation,27 e-mails were sent out and 27 responses were received. In the second round,27 emails were sent out and 25 were recovered. The range of coefficient of variation of the 2 rounds was 0.066~0.357 and 0.040~0.199,respectively. The 2 rounds of expert coordination were 0.306 and 0.505 respectively(all P<0.05).The questionnaire consisted of 2 dimensions and 24 items. Four principal factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the contribution rate of the cumulative variance was 74.309%. The total Cronbach’s α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.961,the test-retest reliability was 0.877,and the content index of questionnaire was 0.976. Conclusion The questionnaire has good reliability and validity. It can be used to measure the situation of self-care behavior implementation intention of enterostomy patients.
