Abstract:

Objective To develop a training program based on the transition shock model for new nurses in psychiatric hospitals. Methods Based on transition shock model, the training program was established by literature review and semi-structured interview with 2 nursing managers,6 clinical nursing teachers and 4 new nurses. Two-round Delphi technique was used to consult 25 experts. Results The positive coefficients of two-round experts consultation were 96% and 100%respectively. The authoritative degree coefficient of experts was 0.844,and the Kendall coordination coefficients of the two rounds were 0.299 and 0.376,respectively. The final training program for new nurses in psychiatric hospitals includes four aspects:training objectives, training contents, training methods, and assessment contents and methods. The training contents include 4 first-level indexes,10 second-level indexes and 37 third-level indexes. Conclusion The training programs for new nurses in psychiatric hospitals based on the transition shock model is highly scientific and holistic. The program reflects the characteristics of psychiatric nursing, and provides the basis for training of new nurses in psychiatric hospitals.
