Objective To investigate the level and influence factors of teaching efficacy among nursing teachers in colleges or universities. Methods Totally 134 nursing teachers in Zunyi Medical University were investigated with University Teaching Efficacy Scale. Results The score of teaching efficacy was(3.72±0.43); the factor score of general teaching efficacy was the lowest and no significant difference was found between the factor score of personal teaching efficacy and professional teaching efficacy. Multiple regression analysis showed that teaching efficacy was influenced by proficiency of using multimedia, application of innovated teaching methods, the time of on-line learning, the times of attending peer lectures, writing papers and textbooks. Conclusion The teaching efficacy of nursing teachers in colleges or universities is influenced by teaching and research activities, which is needed to be further improved.

Objective  To investigate the level of self-directed learning ability among undergraduate nursing students, and to analyze the relationship among general self-efficacy, critical thinking and self-directed learning. Methods  Totally 193 undergraduate nursing students were investigated with the Self-directed Learning Questionnaire, General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES) and Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV). Results  The total scores of self-directed learning, general self-efficacy and critical thinking were(106.79±11.82),(2.52±0.44) and(285.94±31.78),respectively. Self-efficacy, inquisitiveness, systematicity and critical thinking self-confidence were influence factors of self-directed learning. Conclusion  Self-efficacy and critical thinking affect nursing students’ self-directed learning ability. It is suggested to promote students’ self-directed learning by enhancing their self-efficacy and critical thinking.

Objective  To investigate the impact of personality and self-consistency on subjective well-being in associate nursing students. Methods  Totally 392 associate nursing students were investigated with Eysenck Personal Questionnaire(EPQ), Self Consistency and Congruence Scale(SCCS), and General Well-being Schedule(GWB). Results  The score of subjective well-being of associate nursing students was(110.24±12.32), the score was highest in the second academic year(114.75±10.75)and lowest in the third academic year(108.26±12.56). Moreover, the self-consistency and congruence level was low in the third academic year(94.49±14.62). Subjective well-being was correlated with personality and self-consistency; self-consistency played a mediating effect on the relationship between personality and subjective well-being. Conclusion  The level of subjective well-being is high in associate nursing students. Self-consistency plays a mediating role between personality and subjective well-being.

Objective  To investigate the students satisfaction and attitudes towards different training modes of ICU master program. Methods  Different training modes were used in Grade 2011 and Grade 2012. Fifteen master students were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire about their satisfaction and attitudes towards different training modes. Results  The students’ satisfaction in Grade 2011 was 62.5%. All students supported the new training mode. The most unsatisfied items were lack of self-directed learning time(46.7%),stress from graduation thesis(13.3%) and clinical teachers’ educational skills(13.3%). Conclusion  The new training mode of ICU master program is accepted by the students. It is suggested to ensure enough time for clinical practice, attach great importance both to practice and research, and strengthen the training of clinical teachers.

Methods  The main measures included inviting clinical experts to participate in theoretical teaching; applying videos and CAI teaching materials, expanding practical settings by sending students to emergency department and intensive care units(ICU),and carrying out scenario simulation in lab teaching. The students took the final theory and skills exam and were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire. Results  The mean score of the 127 students in the final exam was(81.80±5.72) and the score of teaching process rated by the students was(134.12±10.65). Conclusion  The students’ performance in the final exam is satisfactory and the students gave high appraisal on the teaching process. However, there are still several problems to be solved such as unstable clinical teaching settings lack of effective communication between students and clinical experts,over-emphasizing on the practicability of teaching and discrepancy on the understanding of teaching objectives.
