The effects of a cross-cultural adaptation training on cross-cultural adaptation of international nursing students in a higher vocational college

Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of a cross-cultural adaptation training on cross-cultural adaptation of international nursing students in a higher vocational college.Methods Thirty students of Grade 2017 were assigned to the control group,and those public basic courses were designed for them in the first semester. Another 31 students of Grade 2018 were assigned to the experimental group. Based on the public basic courses,the cross-cultural adaptation training was designed for them.Results The scores of social and cultural adaptation,psychological adaptation and Chinese cultural common sense test in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Students in the experimental group had high satisfaction with the training and the total satisfaction score was 65.34±4.19.Conclusion The implementation of cross-cultural training can effectively help the international nursing students in the higher vocational college to complete their social,cultural and psychological adaptation after coming to China,increase their knowledge of Chinese culture,and help to improve the quality of personnel training.
