Self-evaluation of spiritual caring by oncology nurses

Abstract:

Objective To know the self-evaluation of spiritual care by oncology nurses themselves. Methods The Japanese version of Spiritual Care Assessment Scale was translated into Chinese revision. Totally 211 oncology nurses were selected by convenience sampling. The nurses were asked to complete general information questionnaire and Chinese revision Spiritual Care Assessment Scale. Results The total scores for spiritual caring was 76.74±14.36. Nurses with different working years and educational background had significantly different spiritual caring score(P<0.05). Conclusion The spiritual caring provided by the nurse is in the middle level. Different interventions should be taken referring to working years and educational background of different nurses to improve their spiritual level.
