The effects of WeChat on rehabilitation of patients with ischemic stroke after discharge

Abstract:

Objective To explore the effects of WeChat on rehabilitation of patients with ischemic stroke after discharge.Methods A total of 87 patients with ischemic stroke were recruited in the study. Forty-five patients who can receive the intervention through Wechat platform were assigned to the experimental group and other 42 patients were in the control group. The control group was followed up by telephone after discharge. On the basis of telephone follow-up,the experimental group applied the WeChat platform after discharge. Patients were investigated by the Self-efficacy Scale for Chronic and the Modified Barthel Index. Besides,the platform usage was also recorded.Results At 3-month and 6-month,the scores of self-efficacy of chronic disease management and activities of daily living in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant. The top three contents patients were interested in were disease-related knowledge,rehabilitation training in convalescence and flaccid paralysis period. The top three contents consulted frequently were rehabilitation training,disease prevention knowledge and risk factors,and emergency coping.Conclusion Rehabilitation after discharge based on WeChat platform improves the self-efficacy and activities of daily living for patients with ischemic stroke.
