Abstract: Objective  To investigate the level of uncertainty in illness and anxiety in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF),and to analyze the correlation between them. Methods  Forty AF patients were investigated with Mishel’s Uncertainty in Illness Scale(MUIS) and Zung’s Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS). Results  The total score of uncertainty in illness was(114.59±13.48); the total score of anxiety was(70.48±16.92). Anxiety was positively correlated with the total score of uncertainty in illness(r=0.393,P=0.008) as well as the factor scores in unclear(r=0.244,P=0.001),complexity(r=0.369,P=0.019),lack of information or inconsistency(r=0.564,P=0.000),while not correlated with the factor score in unpredictability(r=0.166,P=0.306). Conclusion  AF patients show a high level of uncertainty in illness and anxiety, and they are interacted with each other.
