Abstract: Objective  To evaluate the effect of oral stimulation on oral feeding in premature infants. Methods
Totally 115 premature infants were randomly divided into two groups. The 58 infants in the control group received routine care. In addition, the 57 infants in the experimental group received oral stimulation once a day. The initial time of oral feeding, the time of full oral feeding, the time of body weight regain and the hospital stay were recorded. Results  The initial time of oral feeding, the time of full oral feeding, the time of body weight regain and the hospital day in the experimental group were significantly shorter than those of the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion  Oral stimulation can promote the oral feeding of premature infants, shorten the time of full oral feeding, accelerate the growth of body weight and shorten the hospital stay.
