Abstract:

Objective This study aims to review the studies on the application of TeamSTEPPS in nursing safety education and to facilitate the future application of TeamSTEPPS in nursing safety education. Methods Arksey and O’Malley’s scoping review method was used as the framework. Relevant studies were comprehensively searched in database including Wanfang Data,CNKI,VIP, SinoMed, PubMed,CINAHL,Web of Science,Scopus, and Cochrane Library. The search time was set from the establishment of the database to April 18,2023. Results A total of 858 papers were retrieved and 18 of them were finally included. The teaching targets of TeamSTEPPS were mainly clinical nurses(n=12),and the teaching formats mainly included workshops, role plays,scenario-based exercises, group activities and so on. The limitations of the TeamSTEPPS application in nursing safety education were small sample size, short application duration, and lack of a uniform and reliable instrument for teaching evaluation. Conclusion TeamSTEPPS is flexible in its application in nursing safety education and can meet the individual needs of trainees to improve their safety knowledge and skills. In the future,it is necessary to expand the education targets and teaching scenarios, employ evaluation indicators related to patient safety outcomes, and evaluate the effects of TeamSTEPPS in nursing safety education from a comprehensive perspective.
