Abstract:

Objective To understand the current situation of continuing education and training of wound specialty nurses in China and to provide references for improving the continuing education and training for wound specialty nurses. Methods Through convenient sampling,a self-designed questionnaire survey on the current situation of continuing education of wound care nurses was conducted among 249 wound specialty nurses in hospitals across the country from June to July 2022. Results Among the participants,87.1%(217/249) of wound specialty nurses have participated in continuing education on wound specialist knowledge within three years. The form of continuing education was mainly through attending off-line activity academic conferences or lectures(82.5%). The content of continuing education mainly included new knowledge of wound care theory, new technology of wound care and wound case management methods. The three main reasons for not participating or rarely participating in continuing education for wound specialists were high cost, limited time for the individual, and less support from the department. A total of 82.3% of participants expressed their desire to conduct continuing education in wound specialists in the form of off-line activity like academic conferences or lectures, followed by distance education(67.5%). Conclusion The training system of wound specialists in China is not standardized and unified, and the training contents are different, which restricts the development of wound specialty nurses in our country. Nursing managers need to constantly improve the continuing education system to improve the ability of wound specialists care.
