Abstract:

Objective To translate the Transition Shock Scale for Undergraduate Nursing Students and test its reliability and validity. Methods After obtaining the authorization from the original authors, the original scale was translated and back-translated according to the Brislin model, and the items were further revised after cultural adjustment and pretesting to form the Chinese version of the scale. Eight experts were invited to conduct content validity evaluation. Two hundred and fourteen undergraduate nursing students were selected for the questionnaire survey to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The Chinese version of the scale included 18 items, and 5 common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis. The cumulative variance contribution rate was 71.134%,2 dimensions were in 1 common factor, the rest of the structure is consistent with the original scale. After discussion, the original 6 dimensions were maintained in this study. The Cronbach’s α coefficient of the scale was 0.912,and the scale-level content validity index was 0.987. Conclusion The Chinese version of the Transition Shock Scale for Undergraduate Nursing Students has good validity and reliability which can be used to evaluate the transition shock level of undergraduate nursing students in China.
