The integration of theory with practice in the course of English of Nursing for vocational nursing students

Abstract: Objective  To evaluate the teaching effects of integrating theory with practice in the course of English of Nursing for vocational nursing students. Methods  The vocational nursing students in Grade 2011 and 2010 were recruited as the experimental group and the control group,respectively. Traditional teaching method was used in the control group,while the reformed teaching method which integrated the theory with practice was used in the experimental group. Results  The students’ performance in the final test in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01). The students appraised highly on the new teaching method. Conclusion  The teaching method of integration of theory with practice can mobilize students’ learning enthusiasm and creativity,enhance teamwork and prepare them to be an international nurse.
