Emergency first aid ability and training needs of medical students

Abstract: Objective  To investigate the emergency first aid ability and training needs of  medical students. Method  Totally 245 medical students were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire. Results  The results indicated that 86.94% of the students had learned knowledge and skills of emergency first aid, but only 8.57% to 18.78% of them had completely mastered the first aid skills. 34.69% of the students regarded field first aid in public accidents as the preferred learning project; 67.76% of them preferred vivid demonstration as the training means. Conclusion  Medical students are future team to cope with public accidents. It is necessary to train them with competent first aid knowledge and skills.
