Abstract:

Objective To develop a patient safety competency training program for junior orthopedic nurses and conduct a preliminary feasibility evaluation. Methods A patient safety competency training program for junior orthopedic nurses was developed based on literature review, qualitative interviews, and Delphi expert consultation. From January 2025 to June 2025,20 junior nurses from the orthopedic department of a tertiary hospital in Shandong Province were recruited to conduct a preliminary feasibility verification of the training program. Results The effective response rates of the two rounds of expert consultation questionnaires were both 100%. The expert authority coefficients were 0.90 and 0.94,respectively;the coefficients of variation were 0.103 and 0.108,respectively;and the Kendall’s coefficients of concordance were 0.391 and 0.186,respectively(all P<0.05),indicating good consistency among expert opinions. The preliminary clinical verification showed that the total score of patient safety competency among junior orthopedic nurses was(145.30±17.23),the score of cognition and attitude toward adverse event reporting was(79.75±7.49),and 14 nurses experienced no adverse events. Conclusion The patient safety competency training program for junior orthopedic nurses developed in this study demonstrated preliminary scientificity and feasibility, and may provide a reference for patient safety training of junior orthopedic nurses.
