Content compilation and preliminary application of Ideological and Political Teaching Guide for Patient Safety Course

Abstract:

Objective To design and compile the guideline for Ideological and Political Teaching of Patient Safety Course and explore its preliminary application effects. Methods Based on the construction of the patient safety course of Chongqing Medical University and the requirements for compilation of Ideological and Political Teaching Guideline for Medical Humanities Courses issued by Ministry of Education, a compilation team was established to construct the first draft of the guideline based on literature research and special discussions, and then revised and improved the guideline after expert argumentation(n=12), and the guideline for Ideological and Political Teaching of Patient Safety Course was formed. Two small classes of third-year nursing undergraduate students(n=80) was randomly selected at the beginning of the fall semester of 2022 to apply this guideline. At the end of the course, a questionnaire was used to investigate the degree of satisfaction with the ideological and political teaching of the course; at the same time, a teacher symposium was held to discuss the application of this guideline. Feelings about teaching ideological and political courses and feedback on the guideline. Results The Guidelines for Ideological and Political Teaching in Patient Safety Course was divided into three parts:the general introduction, the ideological and political teaching guides for each chapter, and the appendix; the vast majority of students were satisfied with the application of this guideline in teaching; 15 teachers were positive about the guideline attitude, believing that it has high operability, practicality and scientific nature, and put forward suggestions such as strengthening the exploration of ideological and political elements and carrying out training in material selection. Conclusion The Guideline for Ideological and Political Teaching of Patient Safety Course is comprehensive, scientific, reasonable and feasible. It can provide teachers with full teaching guidance and reference from theoretical principles, practical teaching to assessment and evaluation; it has been verified in teaching practice, won unanimous praise from students and teachers.
