Abstract:

Objective To explore the application effect of the MiniQuest teaching mode in the virtual simulation experiment of undergraduate midwifery. Methods MiniQuest teaching framework was employed in teaching in midwifery virtual simulation experiment. The teaching content was integrated into five modules:situation, task, process, achievement and evaluation. Students learned independently, discussed and displayed the achievements, and teachers guided and evaluated. After the teaching,a questionnaire was surveyed on the course participation, learning satisfaction and critical thinking ability among 61 undergraduates in midwifery. Results The average operating time of the virtual simulation platform was 2.51 h. The total score of students’ critical thinking ability and the four dimensions of truth seeking, analytical ability,self-confidence,and curiosity after teaching were significant higher than those before teaching(P<0.05). Among the undergraduates,98% of them believed that their understanding and mastery of theoretical knowledge got deepened, and 90% of the students reported that their ability to analyze and solve problems got improved. Conclusion The MiniQuest teaching mode has a positive teaching effect in the virtual simulation experiment of undergraduate midwifery, which helps to cultivate students’ critical thinking ability.
