Abstract:

Objective To analyze the research status and development trend of empowerment in care of patients with diabetes mellitus in China. Methods The literature related to the application of empowerment in care of patients with diabetes mellitus were searched in the database of CNKI,Wanfang and VIP. The retrieval period was from January 2008 to December 2019. The bibliometric analysis was conducted by Bicomb 2.0 software and SPSS 23.0 software to find the key words, research focus and trends of the included papers. Results A total of 139 related articles were obtained. Ten high-frequency key words were identified, and three research hot topics in this field were obtained after clustering analysis including correlation analysis of empowerment and blood glucose control,self-management in patients with diabetes mellitus, analysis of empowerment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and application of empowerment in diabetes health education promotion. Conclusion The application of empowerment in care of patients with diabetes mellitus has been paid more and more attention by researchers. It is suggested that the empowerment should be combined with various intervention modes, and the intervention sites and groups should be further expanded to promote the development of the theory of the empowerment according to the factors affecting the empowerment ability of diabetes patients.
