Abstract: Objective To explore the role orientation of specialty nurses in rehabilitation which are suitable for Chinese practice. Methods A qualitative research was conducted. Through focus group interviews 38 interviewers including 8 rehabilitation nursing practitioners，8 nursing managers，6 physicians，8 therapists，and 8 patients were interviewed. The interview data were analyzed by Colaizzi method. Results Four themes regarding roles of sub-spe-cialty in rehabilitation emerged from the data set including specialty nurses in rehabilitation，health manager，healthenabler，and the multidisciplinary coordinator. Conclusion It is necessary for the medical personnel in the rehabilitation area to pay attention to the role development of the rehabilitation specialty nurses and expand some roles and responsibilities in part of areas.
