Abstract: Objective To explore the effects a training for nurses in the operating room in a hospital of subur-ban area in Shanghai. Methods The first aid knowledge training，first aid skill training and situation simulation training were conducted for the junior nurses in the operating room for 1 year. Before and after the training，the first aid related knowledge and skills were evaluated. Results After the training，the first aid related knowledge，skills and comprehensive ability of the junior nurses in the operating room were significantly improved compared with those before the training，and the difference was statistically significant （P<0.001）. Conclusion According to the characteristics of the newly-built tertiary hospital in the suburbs，a planned and targeted training program can improve the comprehensive first aid ability of the junior nurses in the operating room.
