Abstract: Music therapy is a simple，economical and effective treatment method. It has been widely used in caring of the patients with dementia in recent years and it’s positive effects have been proved. This article reviewed the music therapy used in treating patients with dementia from the following aspects：treatment provider，subjects，methods，effect evaluation，and mechanism of music therapy. We recom-mended community screening for patients，multidisciplinary cooperation to promote rehabilitation，and training for caregivers，to promote music therapy in patients with dementia.
