Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the effects of theory and practice integrated training model on nurses’ evidence-based practice beliefs and implementation. Methods A total of 147 nurses from 51 departments in a medical center were included in the evidence-based practice(EBP) educational program. The EBP educational program was composed of two parts:theory and practice. The theoretical part included evidence-based questioning, evidence retrieval, evidence quality evaluation, evidence transformation, and result evaluation. The practical part included the opening report,mid-term review, and project dissemination. Before and after the training, the Chinese version of the evidence-based practice beliefs and implementation scales were used to assess the level of the nurses. Results The score of evidence-based practice beliefs of nurses increased from(57.13±6.92) to (60.07±6.24) after training, and the score of evidence-based practice implementation increased from(35.85±13.96) to (42.53±13.95) after training(P<0.001). Fifty-one teams successfully carried out 48 EBP projects and 28 projects were guided by the evidence-based practice procedures. Conclusion The theory and practice integrated training model can improve the beliefs and implementation level of clinical nurses’ evidence-based practice, and promote the evidence transformation.
