Abstract:

Objective To explore the effects of training based on typical cases for specialty nurses of wound, ostomy and continence. Methods A total of 30 nurses from a wound, ostomy continence school from 2018 to 2020 were selected and assigned to the experimental group. The training method based on typical cases was adopted in this group. Contents of training were developed based on 2 selection principles,6 selection criteria, and 5-step operation methods. Nurses were guided to select typical cases during the practice and carry out holistic care for them. The holistic care included nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning and evidence-based intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Thirty-four nurses from 2015 to 2017 were selected as the control group, and the routine training method was adopted. After 2 weeks of training, the performance of case reports and clinical practice ability were compared between the two groups. Besides, participants were also invited to evaluate the training quality and effects. Results The performance of case report, clinical practice ability, and evaluation of training quality of nurses in the experimental group were better than those in the control group(all P<0.05). Conclusion The typical case-oriented training integrating nursing procedures helps to improve the clinical practice ability of nurses and improve the teaching effects and quality.
