The effects of five-element emotional intervention combined with auricular point sticking on patients with cerebral infarction during the recovery period

Abstract:

Objective To investigate the effects of five-element emotional intervention combined with auricular point sticking on negative emotion and self-efficacy of patients with cerebral infarction during the recovery period. Methods Totally 582 patients with cerebral infarction were selected and divided into the experimental group(n=291) and the control group(n=291) with their admission order as reference. Patients in the control group was given routine care including knowledge and health education,regular lectures,basic care,and prevention of complications and other conventional nursing interventions. Patients in the experimental group received five-element emotional intervention combined with auricular point sticking besides routine care. The satisfaction level,depression and anxiety score,and self-efficacy score of the two groups before and after the intervention were compared. Results After the intervention,the scores of depression and anxiety in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and the self-efficacy score was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). The satisfaction level of patients in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Five-element emotional intervention combined with auricular point sticking on patients with cerebral infarction during the recovery period can improve patients’ negative emotions,improve self-efficacy and their satisfaction level.
