The curriculum construction of Management and Promotion of Maternal and Child Health for postgraduates

Abstract:

Objective To construct the course module of Management and Promotion of Maternal and Child Health for nursing postgraduates and broaden their basic knowledge and international vision. Methods Five experts of the research group held 3~4 rounds of expert meetings to determine the teaching resources,course name,course objectives,course contents,course hours,teaching method,and assessment methods,based on the latest policies in the field of maternal and infant health at home and abroad,the latest progress in the field of maternal and infant health of WHO,International Midwifery Union and other international organizations,as well as the research report and research findings. Results The course module of Management and Promotion of Maternal and Child Health included four parts namely“global development and evidence-based practice of maternal and infant health and midwifery services”,“international research progress and application of reproduction and contraception”,“progress of postpartum maternal and infant health management” and“early health promotion of children” with a total of 50 hours. The online and offline teaching methods were adopted,and the assessment methods mainly covered group discussion,online interaction,written assignments,and oral report. Conclusion The curriculum module construction process is scientific and rigorous and the course contents are advanced. The curriculum is worth of further promotion.
